And you think Qatar was bad ..........

The Swiss legal practice of fining offenders according to their means has proved painful for a millionaire motorist who has been hit with a record £181,632.39 penalty.

Swiss police caught him racing through a village at 63 miles per hour (100 km per hour) in his red Ferrari Testarossa, Swiss media reported.

A court in the northeastern Swiss canton of St Gallen handed down a fine of 299,000 Swiss francs.

“The accused ignored elementary traffic rules with a powerful vehicle out of a pure desire for speed,” the court said in its judgement.

The St Gallen Cantonal Court ordered the man to part with a proportion of his £14.2 million (23.3 million franc) fortune, which included a villa with a garage containing five luxury cars.
