For Indians, Telangana issue

By blablabla

Well, There is a huge uproar over the announcement of formation of new state Telengana within Andhra Pradesh by the center. Now it has become a war between two people, one insists on its revocation other warns on severe consequences if revoked. What Indians, especially those from AP think about the issue. What should center do now to bring the situation to normal.
I am interested in knowing what advantages the seperation will bring to Telengas and the disadvantages for Andhrites..

mrpr: Thanks for the background info. Quite interesting. You seem to be quite knowledgeable on this issue. But I guess there are still unanswered questions here

who is gonna be helped by a separate Telangana state? and how? (I mean other than generation of employment opportunities for a few hundred politicians.)

The infrastructure belongs to the govt and not to an individual. (Might have belonged to an individual before 1947, not sure)and if the govt sees no harm in spreading over the use of them, how does the individual lose out?

If I say that the rails/roads and buildings in my state can ONLY be used by people from the state (or by a particular sect living in that state), could that be called progressive in a country like ours? Dont you this kind of arguments can only lead to more fragmentation and less unity?

About people 'losing the identity'- how would that happen? Every state in India has people of more than one linguistic/dialectical/religious/cultural background coexisting. Do they lose their identity by co-existence? and what is unique in the Telangana identity over the AP identity that CAN and SHOULD be conserved ONLY by forming a separate state? ('Unity in Diversity' comes to mind)

Also, how does pillaging public property promote a cause EVEN if it is just?

If you would like "people to understand the issue before commenting on it", then am afraid you will have to at least share a summary of your version of the long story. Fair enough? :-p

Does anyone here know that Andhra State (not to be confused with present Andhra Pradesh, which is a combination of Telangana & Andhra States) existed as a seperate state after Madras have thrown them out of their state?

Does anyone know that Andhra State was in dire need of funds and capital to run its Government? They were in deficit and couldnt pay salaries to their Gvot. employees nor had a proper infrastructure to run govt. office, no assembly bldg., nothing, they were running their govt. activities under tents, can you believe that?

Does anyone who is commenting here know that Telangana existed as a seperate state and what Telangana people are asking is a reinstatement of that state?

Telangana (the then Hyderabad state) was very rich and was in trade surplus, it had all the infrastructure necessary to run a state, it had railways, wide roads, drainage system, drinking water pipelines, hospitals, name it and it was there, fully loaded state.

So, what is an easy option? To build all infrastructure or capture an existing one. Then, how to capture, it are not times where you could wage a war and capture, there should be some reason, i.e. language, Telugu. Thus formed the first linguistic state of India, i.e. Andhra Pradesh, purely based on common language, opening gates for resource hungry Andhra to use all infrastructure of Hyderabad State. Thus started loot of jobs, water, resources, funds, waqf lands, culture, just name it and you will notice that it are looted in the name of common language and the tool used to achieve all this was Democracy. The common Andhra migrant is not at fault, but its the elite Andhra people.

Telangana people are at the verge of losing thier identity in total.

Does anyone here know how Telangana was forcefully merged with Andhra State?

Does anyone know why Telangana issue has not died from the hearts of people, not just a decade, but 55 yrs, more than 5 decades?

Its a long story which cannot be written here. I would request people to understand the issue before commenting on it.

Its a very complicated case..The people r fools who want separate TELANGANA region..Centre made a biggest mistake by accepting their proposal for separate region..V can see the un-necessary demand of GORKHALAND at DARJEELING after TELANGANA row..Noone will gain from this dirty politics..Its always the AAM JANTA will get affected...U must have heard from MAYAWATI (the most foolish CM that INDIA has ever received) that she wants separate state from U.P. as well...So u can very well see the disadvantage..All states shld live in peace n harmony..I feel this un-necessary outcome of separate state as BULLSHIT, RIDICOLOUS and BASELESS...I wish some of our dirty n corrupt political leader shld gain knowledge tat nothing will be achieved with this..

well, Hasan I don't have much knowledge about it as I am staying here in Qatar for more than ten years now. I heard on TV KCR accusing Andhra leaders of land grabbing and pushing back telengana people on development. Actually, I want to know the facts from those who know. Unfortunately there seems to be none...
