Day trip to Saudi Arabia
Hi,
My first post so go easy!
I am a UK passport holder but a resident of Qatar. My love is travel and since I'm in this part of the world I would love to see some of the Middle East.
Next April, my wife is going back to the UK for a week, leaving me to fend for myself and I thought I'd like to go to Saudi!
So what is the hassle factor for this? I realise I will need some sort of visa but is this hard to get?
Ideally, I will drive from Doha to the border and present my papers and then drive to somewhere in the KSA. It doesn't really matter where - just somewhere I can experience a tiny bit of life there. And then I'd drive back home (in the same day.)
Sounds simple!
In Europe it would be - but what about over here? My main questions are:
1. Is it possible for me to get a visa for this type of trip and if so, what sort of documentation would I be required to submit, and to whom, and at what price?
2. Once through the border - where do I go?
3. Anything else?

I wonder why you want to go to Saudi??!!
What is there to see??
In any case you have to get your visa through some third party companies in Doha. There is one on B Ring. I used it a few years ago to get visa, but my destination was UAE.
On your visa they put the car registeration etc.

Search QL for Agencies who are authorized to secure you the Visa. I think it will cost you around Qr.200 and will take one or two weeks depending on the load to secure your visit visa. Its not all that complicated and not that the whole country is filled with maniacs.
Don't bother others and no one will bother you. Keep your car on your track and give way for those who are requesting. I am sure your trip will be the most enjoyable.
All the best.

And remember at nights, there is the religous police out in force.
Many years ago, I used to drive trucks in the Middle East. (Last time I drove to Dammam was about 4 years ago, do not think it has changed much since then) Mind you, many countrie's driving is maniac compared to the UK. Even where I am just now in Singapore, I call drivers maniacs.
hey are you serious? a lot of maniacs along Dammam highway? how di you knw about it?
as always
Get a visa to Bahrain. Then apply for a Saudi Visa. You can stay in Saudi for 3 days while going to Bahrain and same applies while returnng to Doha.
Alternatively, get a visa to UAE and a transit Saudi visa
better go to the nearest SA Embassy in your area for further information
as always
Cheers for the ideas - but the real issue is the visa. Anyone got any help?
Well you can drive to City of Riyad if you really want a enjoy a long drive.
All the best.

Where in Saudi do you want to go ?? The border area is the middle of nowhere realistically. If you are out for a Sunday drive type thing would not suggest Saudi, the road to Dammam is full of maniacs ! I find that the vicest place in Saudi is Jeddah, but that is 2 days car drive.
