Walking in public with my dog

quadfly
By quadfly

Does anyone know if one is allowed to walk a dog in public ? I would love to take my dog for a walk on the corniche in the morning. I would of course leave him on the leash and not let him run loose. Are dogs allowed in parks ?

Any one know any beaches where it is ok to walk dog. Someone suggested near the airport. Directions to any beaches or open areas where dogs can run free would be great

What I should have said, when I stop seening Cheetahs and monkeys driving around in cars, then I will stop taking my dogs to the Cornish, but if there are signs now, I will stop - like I say, where I walk my dogs, I haven't seen anything.

Yes, Kimd - I would imagine that would be the case - I don't take my dogs to confined areas.

Mayb you should get a

cheetah or a monkey...it seems more aceptable to have one of those as a pet than having an actual pet, a dog.

What comes around, goes around....

There used to be a sign that said dogs not allowed on the corniche. I was at the Pearl last week and the security asked a woman with a dog to leave.

Is it allowed to walk the kitty along the corniche?

I thought many people in this country didnt like dogs because they are just afraid of them and if your only experience is of wild dogs running around the neighbourhood then I can understand that.

My dog, although being big, hairy and with large teeth is in fact a very gentle dog and all who take the time to interact with her quickly realise that.

In many countries pets are seen as a good thing to have in your house as they have health benefits, mainly a feeling of wellbeing and companionship which can lead to reduced blood pressure etc and of course the exercise and outdoor activities when taking your dog out.

I thot you'd be familiar with this... but... anyways... here you go...

"Dogs are considered too dirty to share house with people, and are banned from the Corniche."

dogs.

Don't start fires - yes

No fishing - yes

No bicycles - yes

But I haven't seen no dogs signs - probably because I walk up the the part I have mentioned, and not many people walk that way.

If like Darude said... dogs are not allowed at the corniche, why teach quadfly to bend the rules

usually being good law abiding individuals is a good thing...

I walk my dog everyday around the streets where I live. It is quite strange when people stop their cars and stare so I guess seeing a dog out for a walk is not very common.

Most parks have signs saying no dogs and I can understand this because not everyone looks after their dog correctly or cleans up after it.

Cornishe - I have done it many time - only had one incident with a local lady... but others wise most people seem friendly and actually want to meet the dogs - and its mostly locals that ask:-)

I find if you keep away from between the Sheraton and where the dhows moor, you are ok - walk futher on towards the port and you should be ok:-) But do m ake sure your dog is on a lead and you carry packets for pooh with you.

I have been running on the corniche many times, and kept the dog on a short lead and picked up poo.

A lady came to up to me and was very rude that I had the dog there so I walked over to the poilce on the R/A to ask if it was allowed, they said it was fine as long as it was on a lead and it left no mess.

I've seen many people walking their doggies at the corniche. So if you want to walk your dog do it when there are less people around preferably during the mornings. If you do get caught i'm sure they will let u off with a warning so relax.

Why not just walk your dog around your living area? Or as suggested take your dog to some beach..the nearest beaches are miles away though :P

Good Fortune always comes knocking at your door...when you are sh*tting in the toilet!! :)

Those of you who have dogs, do you know of any place - preferably with a bit of greenery - that I can walk my dog?

The last place I tried was opposite Khalifa Stadium, I walked my dog there a few times but then last time a security guy showed up to tell me it was not allowed. Where ever I took her for a walk I heard the same.

I don't like to keep her locked in the house. any suggestions?

@ jack25,you need to be locked in a room with some animal rights activists...preferably armed...dogs & other animals are God's creation, just like you,how would you like it if in a dog's world someone told you you weren't worthy enough to be taken to a "public place"???...

Let the dog walk you. There is no law that prohibits dogs walking humans.

So far as I know you are not allowed to take your dog for walks on the corniche - nor are they allowed in any parks usually.
