Hi my friends,

One of my friend has got an opportunity to work as a Software Engineer in a company call “Coast Information” in Tripoli, Libya. He will start working from January 10th. Before he leaves to Libya he like to get some information regarding this place. Special climate, requirements…
is there a good community of Sri Lankans?
Please can someone tel me information related to this. Is there any website like Qatarliving, in Libya?

Thanks.

i hv worked in libya 4 years since 2002 to 2006 - tripoli is a good place to visit and see the acent italian/ greek historical site

below is the some idea about country situation

first advice: dont talk in public about goverment (leader of country) and law, dont question about services you get from local officials (police/ hospital etc)

currency Libiyan Dinnar

people: Arab, Muslim, 50% friendly people (native libiyans more frindly than other population)

you will find few sri lankans around the city most of them are work for oil and gas supply field = construction.

public transport - NIL (available Local TAXI)

communication / transport 5% compare to qatar

internet - available in all over libya

housing - average

shopping/ entertatment - NIL

banking - NIL

International resturents/ take aways - NIL (only local run resturents available)

cost of living - very cheap compare to qatar

take a ride

Communication are very bad there, Internet HA,, what a joke. Depends who you talk with,, some say good, some will say bad. Is it live there or fly in/out. But remember it is a job and that’s what counts at the moment.
