Finally I have the answer to why the locals prefer (mostly white) land cruisers!
It's so that when they tailgate you dangerously, cut you up on the road, drive dangerously run you off the road (as happened to me last night)etc etc
They can drive off and within a few KM they will be just one of the crowd.
Anonymity- it means they cannot be pursued for their actions.

Unfortunately, this is the wrong answer. It is just a culture among this group of people who usually like camping and desert life that is all. And yes, they are horrible drivers and should be penalised.
