Authenticating US documents from here?

Has anybody come here from the US and had experience authenticating documents to get notarized by the embassy for use here? My husband is trying to sponsor me so I can get a resident visa and turns out it seems much more difficult for me than it was for him. Im not sure why his employer is not helping us with this. The embassy will only notarize the documents it once its been authenticated, and as far as I understand, it must be sent first to the state level (in which there are no instructions to do this), then to the Dept of State--> then to Qatar embassy in US-->and finally to Ministry of foreign affairs at the US embassy here. And when doing this, I somehow have to make sure I send pre-paid postage, etc. Can anyone offer any advice on this process? Or would you recommend I stay here for now on my visit visa and take care of this next time I visit back home where I will have an actual mailing address. Thanks

Yes, it's a huge hassle. Use a US expediter, it's expensive but quick and well worth it. I think it's about $500 but it will be done right.

Hi,

I have seen your message regarding authenticating US documents. I am in India right now with my daughter who is a US citizen. My husband is working in Qatar. He is planning to apply for family visa for us and the PRO in his office said that we have to get our daughter's brith certificate authenticated from the US. I looked up online and found that it is a very tedious process. Could you let me know if your problem got solved and how you got the documents authenticated. It would be of great help. Thanks
