I'm moving to Qatar next month and will need to rent a car on a monthly basis.
My budget is 2,000R a month- can anyone recommend a rental company?
Cheers
The small name companies have the more affordable rates. Mustafawi and Obeidly are small companies, with reasonable rates.
Avoid the big names...they are pricy. As for customer service and rip-offs, avoid Petra.
They attract you with their reasonable prices, but you later will regret it. Petra rips-off clients. My buddy had a big problem with them. They overcharged his credit card without his consent and refuse to refund anything. They avoided him and flat out told him they didnt care for what was happening. STAY AWAY.
I've rented one from u-save. Phone#313 5574 (Reynaldo).
Al-Muftah is good too, and they are the very first rent-a-car company in Qatar. Their # is Tel 4328100/4442003, if you feel your deal is not good, ask for Mr.Fazil, a very nice gentleman and he is the head of their rent-a-car section.
Finally, check out http://www.gulf-times.com and from the left menu, go to Classifieds. A friend of mine rented one 2010 Nissan Sunny for only 1900 QR, he has seen that Ad in the newspaper.
My two cents: when you rent a car, please make sure that you mark all the scratches, damage , and also make sure that your insurance option is comprehensive, and you have a reasonable deductible. :)
