one would not have the opportunity to follow much Arabic cinema or TV since sub-titling is not provided (like the English subtitles provided for Arabic speakers on films and TV).

It's a shame alexa, that you don't know who they are, Many are the top Arab movie actors/actress. You've been living here for a while and yet have no knowledge about the movie industry in the region!

They don't censor anything that they want to see..

Arab world is full of double standards...

What is the role of cinema in fighting poverty around the world especially in Asia and Arab world.

Does it help in alleviating unemployment, social welfare of the people of this region.

i think Cinema is unecessary, extravagant aspect of drama.

those so-called stars are paid very expensive while hundreds of millions of poor people wait for food and fresh water.

i think this is one of unfair sides of human behavior.

see how it plays out but I suspect TPTB will continue to do as they please and everyone else will be subjected to the more stringent rules as a means of keeping the religious conservatives happy.

I turned down red carpet tickets, cos I thought it would be more fun outside all night, and this proved to be right decision as all the red carpet VIPs came outside to see the film and found no chairs reserved for them!! As we had the best seats in the house having got there early at 4pm, enjoyed our picnic and the music and drama all before the film.

The organisation (apart from the chairs) was terrific, the whole of the grounds looked lovely, as did the MIA itself - volunteers really helpful

And the film was good! Surprised to see some non-censored kissing tho!!

Well done to all

:)

This is picture is obviously NOT me, I don't smoke..

What it shows is the disconnect between the people at the top of more conservative majority in the country. Some people are trying to drag the country forward for the benefit of their people, but there is still a large majority of religious conservatives who shun all modernisation and more freedom of choice.

Where was the religious police! You get refused entry to bars for dressing like that, someone should have refused entry to the Four Seasons.... shocking.... anyone got the number for the ISF? They were probably having sex afterwards without being married, that's one year in jail for illicit relations....
