hey all, just caught this great fish and cooking it now...but can anyone tell me the name of the fish?

no silly answers please. i want to be able to tell people i caught a ....

although i didnt see the pic but from the distance u caught that fish i can figure if its a bit big they live one edges and muddy places ,,,, u can catch this one in alkhor and specially in zakhira just cast 10-20 meters and u will catch some

sorry to give you the answer after almost four years but the answer saeed gave is correct but he wrote it wrong its shaam not shaab try google" shaam fish " and see images (if u still in qatar ) :) regards

nice size fish, where did you fish from? looks like some kind of snapper, check out the fish market for an ID if you can stand the smell

the fish u caught is called "shaab", its a variation of the gorgofan, you could tell by the size and the darker color of the dorsal fin.

i know the names could be a mouth full but atleast u got a real answer!

no i dont think its a milky!! just looked on google and they look different.

in england we have a perch, they have big dorsal fin with spikes and tiger strips like mind going down wards!!

just googled..and surmyi or surmai is also known as king fish, i dotn think its it?

but i have just cooked it with mixed herbs, garlic and lemon and it was great!!

im soooo full :-)
