Is Ashghal planning to complete the roadworks on the roundabout outside KFC on Salwa road, approaching Jaidah flyover? They started it, and weeks later the road is still a dangerous mess and it seems no more progress is being made.

If you gave me enough time I could probably list 20 projects that appear to have been started, and then work halted temporarily (presumably so Ashghal can start doing work elsehwhere rather than finishing what they have begun).

It just seems to me that once the red and white traffic barriers are erected, and the flashing yellow lights get switched on, they are there to stay. Ashghal never seems to finish anything, except to dig it up again in 6 months.

The mess in Ashghal is because they don't pay enough to get the right people..?

Gadarene, your information is not true,

first of all, NO project is allowed to start without a proper traffic diversion plan, that must be approved from PWA, and traffic police.

2nd, the issue at Dring road is going to arbitration and not because the contractor or PWA don't want to work or having bad plans, it's pure financial conflict.

NO penalties for delays??? wrong wrong wrong.

Now, if you find excavation on roads without diversion this can only imply that there is NO way to divert the traffic, or it's not required.

you can drive on the north road, or even near the D ring road, near the NDIA, i believe proper diversions are built.

Yalla!

@ phoenix2009,i may not much about roadlaying & the layers that go into it...but i do know when a project has just been halted indefinitely with NO WORK at all being done for almost a year sometimes more while the public is put to misery every single day because of it...i also know that there is an easier way to ease traffic congestion when road works are going on & that is by having an alternative route in place BEFORE starting the road works NOT after starting it,then cause traffic jams for hours together everyday & then some moron waking up from his slumber & saying,"oh maybe we should put an alternative route in place"...so please save it,i've lived in Kuwait & Dubai & those are also places with a growing road network & permanent road works going on,only difference is,they put alternative routes in place BEFORE starting the road works & they actually finish projects on time, sometimes before time because they're heavily penalised for every day's delay beyond the stipulauted time...as opposed to here where there is ZERO accountability, nobody has to answer to anybody because there is no anybody asking the questions,so vital arterial projects like d-ring road linking up to immigration are abandoned for months together while people are stuck in jams everyday & no one gives a toss about it,so please save me the lecture...good day...

"guys u are sleeping in ur homes while ashghal working at nights"

You dont have to make it so melodramatic like, 'You guys are safe cause we go for war'. Soldiers get paid for what they do, and so do those who work at nights

gadarene, your sarcastic comment is understood, don't exaggerate the facts, road works mean diversions and blockages and bottle necks, i repeat my previous comment to you also.

ismojya,

you should complain to (watani al habib sabah el kheir) :)

people don't generally know the complications of road work, and the great effort in working outdoors in the heat, they just drive on tarmac top layer without knowing what is beneath and how long it took a contractor to prepare and fix all required utilities underground before lay the final black layer.

you should never use the word "foolish" to describe the authority planning and executing road works, they're doing their best, and you should expect lots of road blockage in a newly growing country.

otherwise, just find yourself an already-built country and move on.

Yalla!

hey hey,no complaining about Asghal ok?...can't you see the brilliant job they're doing & the beautiful, functional road network this town has? can't you see projects finished on time & sometimes ahead of time instead of dragging on endlessly & sometimes completely abandoned halfway?...tsk tsk,i tell you, people here complaining about the roads, how dare they? such a functional road network,no traffic bottlenecks while going to work, coming back from work, going to the supermarket, coming back from the supermarket, smooth flowing traffic all the way, isn't it? well done Asghal, give yourselves a pat on the back guys, road authorities around the world have a thing or two to learn from you eh?...

what kind of hole is that...lolz...

i mean if its depression on the road ... then tell me the street name and location... i will send some inpector ... however if its the depression aroung the manhole...we aren't responsible then... drainage operations & maint. dept. are the responsible....

guys u are sleeping in ur homes while ashghal working at nights.... most of the roads have been widened and some are being widen....

Ok then can you tell me this rezy. Where i live, there was some road work done. I don't know what was wrong with the road but i am sure you guys know it better than i do. Now where these guys worked left a big hole on the road. Now you have to steer your car all the way to left, which means drive in the wrong lane to avoid it. Is there any way to fix this on 'emergency basis'?
