Karwa Drivers!

Hello to all. I hope you all are fine.
I just wanted to talk about a serious problem. About the attitude of many Karwa Bus as well as Taxi drivers.
Yesterday i was in Umgwailina (Don't know the correct spelling of the area, sorry) and i wanted to go to Wakra so i walked to the V.I.P roundabout. I was just 100 meters away from the bus stop and the bus appeared. I waved to the bus and the bus driver was starring at me but still he didn't stopped the bus. I then walked to Ghanim bus station and reached there in like 50 minutes just because of this mean, lazy and dishonest driver.
When i reached there a taxi driver said that he will take me and three more guys to Wakra. I said at last, i will go home. On our way, someone called the taxi driver and we were in Wakra, that guy asked the taxi driver where he was and he lied and said that he was in Doha. The three guys left before my place and the taxi driver wanted me to leave and walk again all my way to home but i refused this time and made him leave me to the bus stop where the Karwa buses usually go.
I just wanted to share this with you guys. It is very difficult for me walking all my way almost daily from Umgwailina to Ghanim bus stop.
Please don't offend or make laugh.
Thank you.

You were 100 meters from the bus stop and the bus appeared .. eh .. So ?? That is a bus service, not a taxi service where the driver is going to wait for you if you wave. The mean, lazy and dishonest bus driver has a schedule to keep. So blame yourself for not being at the bus stop on time.

Walking even short distances in the mornings can be quite painful in Doha. Buy a bicycle and cycle from Umm Gawalina to the Ghanim bus stand (It should take about 5-10 mins max cycling). You can avoid some main roads too.

GodFather.

I recently discovered the way the Taxi drivers are operating in the Industrail Area. After dropping my Car to the Garage for service this morning, the guy from the Garage dropped me to nearby Al Attiya Market where most of the buses terminate and one can find a Taxi.

So there is me seeing a handful taxi's parked thinking there will be no problem hiring one of these back to my office near City Centre.

To my surprise the 4 taxis standing there were not interested in taking me to City Centre instead they would wait for people coming off the Bus and then jumping into the taxi to be driven to their accomodations in the Industrial Area.

Anyway after standing in the lovely sunny/hot weather for about half an hour I managed to flag down a taxi who agreed to take me back to my office in the West Bay Area.

As he was driving the taxi driver told me that these taxis drivers who refused to take me to City Centre were charging QR4 to QR5 for each passenger and operating like a mini shuttle service for these people getting off the buses. So they were charging around QR25 for a QR10 journey as per meter.

Anyway finally I got to my destination 35minutes later.I was so glad with this Indian driver from UP (Uthar Pardes I think he told me) that I gave him a QR10 tip.

Thank God for some honest Indian Drivers in Qatar..:)

If the buses stopped for everyone who was 100m from a bus stop it would be absolute chaos. He was right not to stop.

i doubt if anything will happen.. Karwa drivers know nothing will happen thats why they take things for granted... sad but true

Write down his license plate and report him. Chances are nothing will happen since this is Doha, Qatar. Enjoy your stay.
