For the last 2 years and is it wrong that I can compare QL to Fox News in terms of accuracy of reporting of issues? because frankly I feel like this entire site is a Muslim vs. Everyone else in the world site.

i have also said i wonder if there have been any casualties to human lives....i have been hearing all sorts of rumours but nothing specific..... coz i felt i should not have written that comment earlier on based on a fone call i received from a contact who was in Souq Al Aseiry at that time.It was what he had heard from on-lookers.As he was on the site of the accident,it was merely human to believe his words at that time.

@ olive,it's an open forum mate, people are free to air their views pro or anti whatever they may be...it's called freedom of speech...There is no one singular purpose of this site,it's different things for different people...choose the bits that don't make your stomach squirm & overlook the ones that do...have a nice day! :)...

But isn't the purpose of this site to inform people about Qatar. Not Islam.

Svelte .... looking back on that fire thread I see not only do you not hate rumour-mongers, you are foremost among them:

"svelte_saggi said nameduser.... ...

i just heard there's been casualties to human lives....women and children mainly..... :S

"

That was what started the belief that there were casualties.

if you really feel so,then either u're reading all the wrong threads and u shud just stick to the 'Funnies' section....otherwise,you shud just stop visiting this site altogether.u gotta take care of that stomach of urs,y'know ;-)

Frankly reading this site makes me sick to my stomach. It's actually making me hate Qatar.

lemme clarify PaulCowan....to quote myself "we get to hear news long before it hits the newsrooms....clarifications whether further news are mere rumours or reality can be always confirmed later on...."

i meant to say that if u go thru the news threads, most of them will be copy-pasted from reliable news sites or from eye-witness accounts (as i had started a thread asking what's smoking on the corniche a couple of days ago...i could actually see smoke coming out sitting in my office and had also posted a pic i clicked with my mobile)....it's the replies and additional news to that thread that need to be carefully scrutinized for their validity.i hate rumour mongers,mate....and i'd never be one myself.period.

Smoke - perhaps because all the fury cranks up the hits, which boosts search ranking, which increases their advertising earnings. Just an idea.

A new day, a new idea! Is this the same Svelte Saggi who wrote yesterday in support of prosecuting anybody guilty of spreading rumours, because rumours can cause panic?

What i dont understand is why Religious topics are even entertained on a website dedicated to living in Qatar? News/events/reviews/where to/how to/how much/ these are practical topics that u normally should be discussing. oh well whatever gets more people to join up and make money.

It's not "biased", it's "centiased". There are more than hundred users, and each of them has his own version of the "truth".

but you don"t think it"s a bit biased on this site?

Actually, for news QL is quite good. They were many hours ahead of the other sources when it came to reporting yesterday's fire, for instance. And you will find that current events are posted on QL whereas the newspapers will tell you all about it after it happens. It's a somewhat to mostly accurate information board. With a little practice you will come to find it's not too hard to sort out truth from opinion. Know the source, check the facts and beware of fangs and venom - they usually indicate an agenda.
