STOLEN JEWELLERY

I have had most of my jewellery stolen in the last couple of weeks. I am absolutely devastated as much of it are old family hierlooms. Rings, earrings, necklaces, bracelets and a watch have gone. Some of the items are very old english, therefore rather dated and rare, including a couple of unique pieces designed and made specifically for members of my family. I have a complete list if anyone should be offered pieces that would not normally be found here and are suspicious. The police have a list. I know it is a long shot but please if any one can help i would be eternally grateful.

we try to help you wizcake, but your original post was hhmmm a bit unclear, so we try to come with any ideas and suggestions...

You didn't mention a word about burglary. In this case, since you say it was a burglary, how come you didn't notice it right away? eh? May be it was not a burglary? may be someone that you know very well has done it??

Again, i try to help you, based on the information that you provide..

My jewellery was in my jewellery box in my bedroom 2 weeks ago, now it is not there. No i have not accidently forgotten where it was, this is thousands of pounds worth of stuff. We have been burgled. It happens. I was just asking for help, i will leave the police to do the detecting.

but again, has your house been robed? How did they disappear? Any clue who could take them? May be you replaced them somewhere else, and forgot about it?

It happens to my Mom all the time... once she put my passport in "very safe place".. we could never find it since then.. i had to apply for the new one..:)

"I have had most of my jewellery stolen in the last couple of weeks. " ..

Does this mean this was carried out over a period of time ?

agreed, if the thief is from organised gang :-)

You reminded me about UAE's One Dirham coins scam, the metal was costlier than the actual value, created huge scarcity.

and how did that happen?

Victory, you are right. Normally, if you want to sell gold to the store, the store must ask for the police approval, i.e. you have to go to the Police station and get their approval. But.. there are some store in souk, that dont' follow this law. Yes, they give lower price for the jewellery, but they still accept it without the police clearance.

victory, anything works in the black market. You can just melt the jewellery and make a new piece out of it.

wizcake, try to walk around in gold souq, if you are lucky you might see your piece is in there.

We got our house robbed back in Feb. Lost all my family heirloom , wedding presents and everything else. Just like you the police made a list of it. Since then, never heard anything from them ...
