Diwali Dandiya

Well picking up from where FS left off, I thought we need to have a fresh thread for those that would like to enjoy this event.

Dandiya is the traditional folk dance form of Vrindavan, India, where it is performed depicting scenes of Holi, and lila of Krishna and Radha...basically its a dance performed with sticks.

Bad news is that you wont be dancing with any sticks, good news is that u can relax and watch the talented Sonali Tejashree do her thing. Sonali is an Indian film actress who has appeared in Kollywood movies. Tejashree is originally a kathak dancer, trained in kathak by her father Master Jaikumar Khele, a disciple of Pandit Gopi Krishna Maharaj. She will be performing with her group.

There will also be a live band called the "Melody Makers" to keep you entertained and to keep the party going!

The tickets cost
Qr. 159/- for Adults
Qr. 79/- for kids
price includes entrance to sealine resort, use of swimming pool, children's play ground and admission to the diwali Dandiya prog. Food and beverages extra.
If we are able to round up 50 people we are looking at paying like 127/- for adults.

Where:Sealine Beach Resort
When: 16th October, 2009 (Friday)
What time: 7.30 to 11.30pm

For those that do not know where Sea Line Beach is we'll arrange to meet at a central place and proceed as a group from there.

So for those that are missing a big part of this wonderful Indian festival, gather your family and friends and lets go Dandiya!!!!! :)

FS I wont be able to make it for this sorry already have some other plans.

I doubt a lot of people know how to play dandiya in the first place over here. This is more like a show that will be performed by a famous dancer. Looking at the package i feel its a good "family" event.
