Captain Abu Raed (2007-Jordan)
Directed by Amin Matalqa
(In Arabic language with English translations)
An airport janitor in Jordan founds an airplane pilot's hat, wears it and brings it home. Several kids found him along the way and was curious to know that their neighbor was a pilot and wants some stories from him. Not willing to break the hearts of several children he tells them some stories of his 'expeditions' (which seems to come out from tourist guide books and memorabilias his new pilot friend gives him) and gives them encouragement to continue dreaming in spite of several family problems the children faces when they get home.
A lighthearted inspiring drama in a Pied-Piper-like resemblance, a rare movie that gives us an insight of Jordan between the common residents and the modern life circling around the airport, its visitors and the city of Amman between them, sending a message to the children around his community through 'stories' he conceived not as lies but rather a sense of hope to make them pursue their ambitions (see the ending on how one of the children suddenly achieves his career).
