Hi guys,

I am moving to Qatar in 1 month. By the time I move, my wife will be 3 months pregnant. On arrival will we get a health insurance for her that covers her pregnancy?

Can my wife also get a government "health card" as soon as her residence permit is done?

Could you also inform me of the estimated cost of a delivering a child at a local hospital, for example Hamad Medical Corporation?

Thanks for all the good advise gusy.

My wife will come on her own visa from the company we work for. They will then apply for her RP.

As soon we have her RP, I will do enrol her for the health-card and check with Hamad.

Thanks again for you suggestions and feel free to suggest any other things that come to your mind.

I would just like to add one bit of information about delivering at Hamad so you have the whole picture: you will not be able to be present in the delivery room with your wife while she's having the baby - you'll have to be content pacing the floor outside. You can be in the room with her if you choose to have your baby at one of the private hospitals like Al Ahli, but the costs are almost triple (or more) but if there's any complications and she needs to have a caesarean, back to Hamad you'll go.

Get the health card as soon as you get your RP!!!!

I've delivered 3 babies at Hamad - one on visitor's visa and cost us over 2000 QAR (but, i had complications). The other 2 babies were delivered under the Health Card - it costs 100 QAR per night only - so normal delivery is only about 200-300 QAR; cost of delivery or any other special care for you or your baby is free. Nominal charges for any medication you need.

Congratulations on the pregnancy - make sure she travels quickly while the baby is small - if she'll be 3 months,as you say, that's great!!!!Try not to delay your travel plans! I traveled at 6 months pregnancy, and lost him :( because of the air pressure. You just never know. (6 months is allowed by both airlines and doc's - but, sometimes, extra caution is a VERY good thing)

& if You are Trying or Private Hospital, Forget it, They Will Charge you Approx 7,000 to 20,000 Riyals as i Did Survey with my Wife, When She Was Pregnant. In Allmost All Private Hospitals

Please My Advice Hamad Hospital is Good & Now They Have got All American & European Machines, To Care Their PAtients Very Well.

& Hamad Hospital Doctors will Try 99% of The Patients to Get Their Patients Delivery ( Maternity ) Normal Delivery.

& My Wife Gave Normal Birth.

Dear Friend

I Have Also Face the Same Experience in Qatar

1.) If Your Wife is Comming to Qatar on Family Visa RP.

2.) As Soon As She Gets Resident Permit in her Passport

Applly for Hamad Hospital Medical Health Card, Which is Costing 100 or Qr 200 Riyals Maximum for One Year Only People HAving Qatar RP Can Only Obtain that Card With in 7-10 Days Upon Applying. Free Delivery, Maternity in Hamad at May Cost You All Around Qr.500 Maximum Cost All Around & Rest Every Thing is Free.

3.) If Your Wife is Comming to Qatar on 6 Months Visit & You are Planning to Get her Delivery ( Maternity )you Have To Pay Around QR 4,000 For 1 Week & This Qr 4,000 Thousand Includes All the Bed, Medical & Baby Fees.

Its True 100% Which i Had Faced This Issue Before 04 Months & i Paid Qr:3,900 Some Thing.
