YES!

It depends on how the push button is programmed to the elevator controls. A program to ramp-up the speed while the elevator travels based on the number of key strokes with maximum speed limit can be programmed.

This will reduce the waiting time!

No, but it does give you something to do to pass the time.

A similar question:

Is there any benefit to pressing both the up AND down buttons when waiting for the lift?

The answer, to all those idiots in City Center, is a big fat no. Stop taking up space in an elevator that's going up, when you want to go down, you morons. You only make it busier for everyone else.

They know who they are...

The nicest elevator buttons turn off when you press them twice.

some people think that by pressing twice or more or maybe keep holding the button will make the elevator faster. its just idiot who never been in there before.

Hehe no way..

It’s just a psychological fact. Its just give u only some sort of relax. It makes you feel like your doing something when in reality you’re just standing there like a dummy watching the display showing what floor the elevator is actually on..

Nope I dont think so... I just think its a natural reaction of people when they stand outside the lift that they feel they need to be doing something to get the lift to arrive !!!!
