Why should their world be built around a 4WD?

I have seen similar sights, around Doha, many a times. However, I’ve never had my camera on any of those occasions.
I’ve seen different animals, ranging from goats to cows to camels, being transported like this.
When my friend joked that these animals had “their own four wheel drive and a personal chauffer”, I did not find anything funny in it. I was rather miffed.
I have had pets (no goats, though) and I would not dream transporting them like this, on open vehicles, exposing them to harsh sun and dust. I can imagine how scared they might be...standing on a moving platform, seeing the world whizz by...
Maybe these animals have gotten used to it, but doesn’t it still amount to animal cruelty?
I feel it is high time Qatar amended its laws regarding prevention of cruelty to animals. I feel practices like these should be stopped. If animals are to be transported, it should be done in a proper, covered manner. What do you, my friends, say?
Is it just old age turning me into a softie or do you feel these animals deserve better treatment?
wndererrr ... hence pickup's are made since long ago .. and mainly US made was number one at some point of time therefore i pointed to them.
any way pickup's are made to pickup laguegoues and stuff including animals ... guess you never saw how EU's people shift thier horses ...
guess my point is very clear and we can stop disputing each others grammer or spellings.
in a day or two, it will have its throat cut open with a knife, agonizingly dying either from hemmorhage and heart failure or from asphyxia.
heat stroke or not, real danger lies ahead!
3 years ago in germany, a law was passed forcing all farms to give 3 months vacation to cattles. during those 3 months, the animal must live outside in the sun, away from the barn and its unhealthy atmosphere.
this i'm with, since this "vacation" in my opinion, make the animal healthier so it's meat will be better.
do they use laser beams that kill the animal seconds after its halal slaughtering in doha? that would be nice.
perhaps this could be posted to the local papers and see what comes out of it....
it might be difficult as Eid brings about lots of these trucks ferrying sheep for slaughter...n this is the mode of transport..
RSPCA needs to get 'em an office out here.. thats what is needed.. n some much needed help to the animal shelter back at Rayyan...
At John, the owner SHOULD have taken care, but obviously he did not. I feel that he does not care because the animals cannot anyway speak out and air their worries. It’s inhuman, period.
At devil, like Platini points out later in this thread, the laws for labourers were the same until a few years back. They were treated the same, taken around in a yellow bus which resembles a coffin. Things have changed now. Then why should not animal rights change?
At Chelsea, I am seriously speechless. I do not want to say anything more.
At Platini, you pointed out a valid point. I have been here for a few years now and have seen firsthand what used to happen here. Thanks for bringing it back into focus. And thank you for your kind words.
At Sunpower, I am named Wanderer, not ‘Wonderer’, LOL. As to your query, I have no idea. I am from nowhere near the place.
At Y2sag, I see you have been a member in QL for a year and 39 weeks. This was your first ever post on the forum. I am however sad that it could not be a bit more constructive. Shame, really.
its so cruel with these innocent animals, they should at least hv one properly cushioned seat, an ac cabin, and a banana shake for the ride. OR dirty smelly grass all around and a pic of a bunch of goats to feel at home.
its really cruel
i protest..........
keep wondering wonderer, but i wonder why US made pickup's used by cow boys for. sigh!!!
this is aweful stuff... but a few years back.. labourers were treat the same way until qatar passed a law and things changed for the better.
the dog story is horror stuff...
laws need to be put in place n quick...
cheers wanderer another feather in your cap!
That's a shocking tale. I don't approve of these kind of pick-up transportation too.
It is animal cruelty and it's such a shame that there are no laws in Qatar that provide regulations as to how these animals should be housed and transported.
No they are not alright to be like this. The number of animals that die of heatstroke and stress is unbelievable. There are cases where the animals are tied up in the back of pick ups and when the driver brakes suddenly, the animal falls over and is either strangled to death by the rope or the neck is broken.
There was one incident a while ago where a man had a trailer hitched to his car with a dog tied in it. The trailer had low sides and when he braked suddenly, the dog fell out of the trailer and it wasn't until the other drivers got his attention over a km away that he realised he had been driving along dragging his dog under the trailer and it had of course died.
If people stopped seeing them as "just" animals then maybe we would get alot further with animal welfare issues.

I think this is fine. They are only transported in open. Once they reach their destination they are taken good care of. If human laborers can work under the sun, this is nothing for them. They are animals after all. Not that I like animal cruelty. But it is a common beleif that animals are stronger than humans.
I think those animals are ok under the sun coz if not the owner would have covered them
