Lots of questions about moving family,...
HI everyone,
Looking for someone, or a few people with lots of knowledge on living in Doha that could advise us.
My husband in moving out in the next few months to work for maybe six months but could be 2-3 years if he likes it. Trying to work out financially if its worth moving myself and my two kids out too.
Looking around I would def prefer a compound, but these look so expensive. Plus my daughter is 3 and a half so schools are also an issue.
Also, how does the whole heathcare system work. Here we live in the GP's office cause both kids have funny tummies are under Great Ormond Street here on regular meds and special milks. How would this all work there?
I think if it worked out much more expensive then here we would have to stay, but I would love to move out there for a year or so for the experience too.
Any advise would be really appreciated,
Thanks, Cheryl
that someone else on QL might be working for the same company and can give them advice and relate their experience about how they like working for that particular company.
deedee, and why do you need to know "What Company will he be working with/what position?"
804063, issues are not with the late admission.. the issues are with any admittion.. there are long waiting lists in good schools in Qatar..

If your kids require specialized treatment and are currently being treated at Great Ormond Street then my advice is to stay put...
The stress and tension generated if he kids should not get proper treatment is not worth the money...
???
I will be moving into Doha soon.
What will happen to my child if by the time i arrive in Doha schools will already be running.
Any issues in late admission?
My child might be joining a school in Al Khor( British) or any other school associated with Ras Gas company in Doha.
Pls advise.
We need more information to adequately advise you.
IE---What Company will he be working with/what postiion?
What is the housing allowance? Or the company policy regarding housing?
Do they pay educational allowance?
Do they pay travel benefitis?
What other benefits are they offering?
There is national healthcare here for those with resident permits---very very cheap, good care.
A lot of expats, however, also have private insurance and go to private clinics.
Please post more of what your husband is being offered so we can advise you whether it is economically feasible for you to come or not.
