RoboCop (1987)

Part man. Part machine. All cop.

Stars: Peter Weller, Nancy Allen, etc.

Directed by Paul Verhoeven

In a not-so-distant future of Detroit, Michigan, a police officer was brutally killed by an highly-organized crime syndicate. His body was mechanically repaired through a fund raised by the city's biggest corporate and turned him into the ultimate law enforcer of fighting crime in the city streets.

Had this rewatched earlier and I'm still impressed with the concept. Just ripe at the movie screens of 1987 when the age of cyberpunk cinema was immensely popular. An unknown cast but excellent performances. The execution of the story (from corruption in the state and even in the robot directive to the human memory that retains his otherwise totally mechanical armor). The graphic violence (well it really was gory for a 1987 movie but that didn't diminish the popularity of the audiences at that time). It may look outdated with the visuals in the movie with the original paint art of the building and the stop-motion techniques of ED-209 (funny I realized when I saw Robocop's operating system starting with command.com first before BIOS which sounds wrong on a computer setup) but still comprehensive to my viewing pleasures (and memories of those good ol' Robocop action figure that I own before).

Must be the effect of the stupid concept of having to buy a new mobile phone model every 6 months but just throw/give it away afterwards.

It doesn't come any better to stories/concepts of writing and art.
