Ram was a noble king can be considered like a Prophet. He is the equivalent of Noha, Jeremiah, etc but was well versed in the art of War, Science, Politics, Welfare etcc.
The word "Bagwan" has no english translation it can be similar to "En-lighted" or the "one who knows the truth"....but people translate it for ease as GOD.
u have ur religion with u and others have their own...if its so horrible, y do u want to research abt it..stay away from it...and dont criticize other's beliefs...
who is your God? Is it Shiva, who has the moon and river Ganges on his head and who could not identify his own son? Or is it Rama who couldn't see through Sukrievan's disguise and who murdered another god? Or could it be Krishna, the "playboy god"?
I heard Hinduism religion now, for the first time I think, there is no such religion Hinduism. Not sure whats their beliefs all about...after reading these articles it looks horrible... phew from this thread not for literates....
EACH nation has created a god, and the god has always resembled his creators. He hated and loved what they hated and loved, and he was invariably found on the side of those in power. Each god was intensely patriotic, and detested all nations(groups of people) but his own. All these gods demanded praise, flattery, and worship... All these gods have insisted upon having a vast number of priests, and the priests have always insisted upon being supported by the people, and the principal business of these priests has been to boast about their god, and to

"Masters of Existence: Self Worship" by Vexen Crabtree
Gods are created according to our needs.
It is our own pride that makes us think we know the truth.
RAmuji: As far as i have understood,Krishna/Rama are not, to be exact, Gods as per root texts. They are supposed to be human incarnations. Like people sent with special powers to do certain tasks and then perish.
if you ask me, I would say Ramayan n mahabharat and quite a lot other stories are just epics/folklore and not religious texts. but you might find a lot of devout hindus who worship the characters in it. That is because hinduism, a religion without a central authority, has not been strict about who can be worshipped and who cant be. (not getting into a debate about whether it can be called a religion)
The philosophy is ...You want to see your God in a piece of stone, you are welcome to do so. You are welcome to deny that too. What makes a stone or a deity into a God is not somethingthat is intrinsic to the diety; it is the believer's faith that makes it divine.
who is your God? Is it Shiva, who has the moon and river Ganges on his head and who could not identify his own son? Or is it Rama who couldn't see through Sukrievan's disguise and who murdered another god? Or could it be Krishna, the "playboy god"?
Mwuhaaaaaaaaaaaaaa to you as you are Physicist....me tooo!!! I love to read your comments in that another thread too...Entropy and all just had taken me back to my college age and started giving me the nightmares all over again...lol
BTW take a word from a Hindu...Ramayan and Mahabharat were the soap operas of ancient times....
Britex, the Persians never invaded the other side of the Indus.
Here is the 530 BC map.
From then on the map grew bigger but towards the West. They conquered what you call your forefathers empire. And the Greeks managed to come out of the Persian domination only during the waning period of the Persian Empire.
Some comforting words in time of trouble is "Keep the faith" or "Have faith in your self" both carries difference interpretation. It dosen't matter which religion you belongs to but this is a powerful spiritual tool that dictates the direction you are going to succeed or fail.
Now ofcourse the real Persians are all Indians(some are Brits too). They have integrated to the Indian society almost 1400 years ago when they came to India. And their religion Zoroastrianism was somewhat similar to the early vedic religions which were then followed in India. It is difficult to predict which religion was influenced by whom.
I know it's a Persian term. But the great Persians never invaded India. The Great Persian Kings Xerxes, AtaXerxes, Cyrus and Darius were always busy fighting with the Greeks, and they conquered babylon and the other western kingdoms.
It also seems that the term "hindusm" was coined by the Persians after they invaded India. Aparantly it means " the religion of people living near the Indus river"
DUNE - My favourite all time book and one that shoul be read by everyone !
Getting back to Hin duism. it seems to me that the scriptures can bew interpreted in different ways by different people.
As the Rig Veda - first book states - "Ekam Sat, Viprah Bahudha Vadanti". I have been informed that loosely translated it means "There is only one truth, only men interpret it in different ways".
LOL....Bleu, but it is not advisable to compare these books to modern sci-fi. These are ancient books. There are many ancient manuscripts which are well preserved till date! And Hinduism being the oldest surviving religion, has a lot of sacred texts dating back to about 2200 BC, when these were first compiled into books(sanskrit) by people who were pioneers of scholastic philosophy or theology. Earlier the system of handing down religious knowledge from generation to generation was called "shruti" which means "hearing and memorizing". This is how errors & mal practices crept in and the original texts(not texts:because there weren't any, say original matter) were changed.
But all these books were not only about Hindu God's and about worshipping deities. The ancient Hindu books were about the way of living, science, architecture(vaastu), medicine and ancient societal laws(manusmriti).
We even have book on sex called kamasutra which was written by Vatsayan(4th/5th century CE).
But you can compare the hindu mythology/epics like Mahabharata or Ramayana to modern Sci-fi. But then all mythologies are like that. Same goes for Homer's Illiad & Odessy!
To my knowledge Hinduism has been derived from the word Hindu. Hinduism was a name given in English language in the Nineteenth Century by the English people to the multiplicity of the beliefs and faith of the people of the Indus land. According to New Encyclopedia Britannica 20:581. The British writers in 1830 gave the word Hinduism to be used as the common name for all the beliefs of the people of India excluding the Muslims and converted Christians.
Let me tell you something: I am a serious scientist. I know that anything I try to measure is changed through my measurements. I must therefore acknowledge that it is impossible to find any objective facts. My intervention through the measuring process already alters the item I want to measure. My result is subjective, in every respect. Only if I am able to subtract my influence totally (impossible, by the way), I will have something close to an objective fact. You claim that what "he believes in any book" are the facts. Well, I have to tell you, I don't think so. Every book has one or several authors, and they have different objectives. And some of them had a quarrell with their wives, and so on. I do not think that what is in the books is a proof for authenticity. It's just an opinion.
I have started reading it,only the first few pages. I choose not to read any farther. I have better things to do. BTW, by posting that You are helping a fanatic spread his hatred!
Ramuji, I am not really sitting in front of my computer. I programmed my computer to discuss a topic on QL with a given set of strategies. I am in the Qube.
You believe what your parents say ? Did you ever gave a deep thought on what you are believing all about ? Did you ever tried to figure out what are all the facts ? I guess you never did so ? so this is a great chance for you to find out the facts instead of running behind epics and stories.
Ramuji, you know that everybody can post almost anything one wants on the Internet (it's only censored in dictatorships or monarchies). Therefore, you gotta be very careful about the trustworthyness. I found a "Theory of Everything". Can you imagine, that this bullsh*t had a million or more page hits?
And why are you asking me that? Have you gone nuts! If you ask a mad person whether he is mad or not, what kind of answer do you expect from the patient? I will say that you are very naive.....too naiive for a normal grownup person.
These sort of inquiries should be made at the psychologists/guardian of the patient!
But I like to believe what my parents say. And I generally believe in what people around me say unless I know for a fact that what he/she says is a lie or wrong info!
But MD, I strongly believe(this belief is very firm) that a namesake of Ram is present in Doha-Qatar at this very moment. And I am 100% sure he is a QL member. And he is expressing his scepticism on whatever I say!
This is "popular" science, edifis. A scientist doesn't give a sh*t if Anastasia is dead or not. And a scientist won't try to prove anything about Jesus or Moses or Noah or Adam. These stories only are true for those who believe. They have no value for anybody else. They are just tales.
I read that just for a while and seems hatestereotype, illutionising factisms ...edifis can give more insight of this incarnation story which he himself doesnt know from what he talks he says "May be" "May Not Be" but still He says he believes, sounds grrrrrrrrrrrr8
MD science will not be able to prove the existance of more recent characters like Jesus Christ too.
Leave Jesus alone for now
Look Science was not able to come up with definitive proof of the whereabouts of the remains of Anastasia Romanov and Maria until recent times!....even after so much DNA tests.I am not sure of the fact whether it has been established now or not.
Excatly there's never be proof in just about any belief. My fore father prays to a stone when he wanted rain, the rain comes. My grand father prays to a statue when he wanted fruitfull harvest, he got it. Its only me who prays to about anything and never gets something.
There is no proof of existance of Ram...everyone knows this nothing new. But still ...Hindus have every right to believe that he may have existed in that period between 3300 BC to 2700 BC....by the way are you joking ?
Thanks for the clarification. So, it all goes back to "faith" and "belief" . just as Christians and Muslims believe in God, so the Hindus believe in Ram!
Ramayan is an Epic. So no one should ask whether Ram is for real. Ramayana & Mahabharath contains the philosophy of our religion or the philosophy of the religion followed by the aryans(people)of the the early & later vedic periods. So it is not important for them to be real. There is no proof of existance of Ram. But Hindus have every right to believe that he may have existed in that period between 3300 BC to 2700 BC.
If you ask a romanian about Vlad the Impaler they proudly tell you Vlad Dracula's religion was orthodox but he was also a great Christian because he fought against Ottomans invasion.
Stone please avoid such things, thats what I was wondering from where the COW and GOAT came into picture and by the way DRAC you dint reply to query? (whole QL forums and topics most of them are (i.e. racist, pornographic, sexist, obscene, profane, vulgar, derogatory, hateful or threatening), are we planning to do something about that soon ? )
As opposed to the West, where the cow is widely considered as nothing better than walking hamburgers, in India, the cow is believed to be a symbol of the earth - because it gives so much yet asks nothing in return.
If you read you read the whole QL forums and topics most of them are (i.e. racist, pornographic, sexist, obscene, profane, vulgar, derogatory, hateful or threatening), are we planning to do something about that soon ?
Don’t post anything that could be perceived as illegal or offensive (i.e. racist, pornographic, sexist, obscene, profane, vulgar, derogatory, hateful or threatening).
britexpat did you understand what sandeepkadian is trying to explain, any clue ? dont tell me sandeepkadian that you are also Human incarnation...lolz else we all we disappear from QL now...in one click. By the way who was krishna ?
Rama , like an ordinary man, fell down into the river and was DROWNED. (Uttara Kandam, Chapter 106). How can a "god die? Who will then look after the affairs of the world?
"My Rama (god Rama) is not the Rama of Ramayana". Mahatma Gandhi
"The Ramayana and Mahabaratha are nothing but another Arabian Nights Story" Jawaharlal Nehru
"Rama is not a god; but he is a hero" Rajagopalachari, First Governor-General of India and a great Brahmin leader.
"Ramayan is not a divine story; it is only a literature" (Kaliyuga Kamban, T.K. Chidambaranatha Mudaliar). Babri Masjid was demolished by Rama Bhatkas claiming that it was his birth place.

Hats off to you man..... I wish I was tht hard working....

If Hindu religion is tht Bad.... ???
how it survived 5000 + yrs.... ??? Islam/Christianity are like young kids when you see the ages of the religions we are trying to talk about.....
I wish I was as hard working as you are.....
even I would have given good links to enlighten you about Islam and Christianity the way you want to read it....
but jus Google it... you ll find lotsa stuff to entertain you..... :)
The only religion that can be logically understood is Science....
Anything else.. we use Science when we have to prove the scientific base of our few beliefs...
And ignore when majority of them contradicts with the Logic and Science....
its like if you play Cricket and Judge Football....
Of course you ll call David Beckham is fool to play a Game in which all 22 are running at a time....
unlike cricket.. where only 3 are in action and others can laze around :)

Open up google earth and search for adam's bridge, "rama setu"
I dont know why the fuck it is called Adam's Bridge when the whole building of the bridge from India to Srilanka is well explained in Ramayan.
..and never was it writen in Bible/Quran/Thorah that Adam came to India!!!!
Ramayan & Mahabarata are facts because:
1.The person writing them says so. He doesnt say this is a story.
2. Mentioned are names of other people, time according to the star formation (which is more complex than todays normal calander calculation).
3. Events that happend are clearly mentioned that can be verified even today. 2 eg:
a) Rama Setu (Rama's bridge)...you can see it in google even today.
b) Sinking of the city of Dwraka off the coast of Gujrath.
4. Names of Rivers & Mountains used then are still used now. This doesnt happen in stories.
5. India was called bharath varsh....after name of one of the greatest kings of India....Bharat.
But after reading the below article, it was horrible and dont want to know about it anymore...

Adding on to what WINN has shared....
Ramayana and Mahabharata are termed Mythologies and not History...
there has to be a reason for tht...
But it is so Gigantic and vast along with being inspirational for generations and generations..
It has to be true. But how ??
More than a historical event (I was told by a Saint.)
It is a mental fight or struggle we all go through...
I personally couldn relate this Ramayan and Specially Mahabharat as religious...
Guy you say is good.. is someone who looses his wife in Poker Kinda Game....
5 brothers have one wife .....
Hero's are not supported by the Teachers, The elderlies.. and what not....
Hero's play tricks to fool and defeat the evils....
I could never imagine this being inspirational until someone told me.. Relate the characters of Mahabharat to our thinking .....
Everything suddenly made sense.....
I wantedly cannot share tht with you guyz...
You wont get it. or understand the essence unless you know the Mahabharat or Ramayan Story....
But it is inspiration for many.. ans shall be for many more generations to come.
And Music fun entertainment.. all these things are these dayz juiced out of Vedic tradition.. but earlier was a inevitable part of it...

Truth,
Why do you want them to awake? are they asleep? Do you want to preach another religion to them??? What is this about?
a person who calls himself a Hindu becomes a true practicing Hindu irrespective who he worships and what ever may be his beliefs and practice.

I have a problem to believe, edifis.
Thats why I said "I believe" My belief may be true or may be wrong. So I am safe. I guess I did not break any QL rule.
But MD, I strongly believe(this belief is very firm) that a namesake of Ram is present in Doha-Qatar at this very moment. And I am 100% sure he is a QL member. And he is expressing his scepticism on whatever I say!

Ramji, what is all that hate on the web site you cited? I wonder.
So what people(Hindus) write may be true! And I am Hindu. So I tend to believe them. But if you ask the basis of my belief, I will say it is my faith!
Oh..... but that is no reason to dis believe the existance of Ram either. Because no one has has been able to prove that Ram did not exist.
But if Ramayan and Mahabharat are epics then it does not mean Ram did not exist.
Ramayan and mahabharata cannot be classified as mythology.
Edifis dare you do that.
Good, edifis. Seldomly people are so self assure. Please don't start to prove Ram's existence with science. Then you'll loose.
Got this hit on google guyz ...thats the one from scribd...........
http://www.scribd.com/doc/2404915/Oh-You-Hindu-Wake-Up
For me I don't need proof of the existance of Ram!
Oh, edifis, everybody can write something. Look at the posts here.
It is what is written. Lookup valmiki in the wikipedia MD. And Ramayana too.
Magic I think this is a very complex story of Valmiki...let me google this out.
Is that what you know, or what they say, or what you believe, or is it a hoax, edifis?
Ramayan was written by Valmiki in the 4th century BC!

As opposed to the West, where the cow is widely considered as nothing better than walking hamburgers, in India, the cow is believed to be a symbol of the earth - because it gives so much yet asks nothing in return.

RAMA'S DEATH
Rama , like an ordinary man, fell down into the river and was DROWNED. (Uttara Kandam, Chapter 106). How can a "god die? Who will then look after the affairs of the world?
WHAT INDIAN LEADERS SAID ABOUT GOD RAMA?
I thought Ramayana was an epic like The Iliad and Sri ram was the main character..
Put your efforts in educating muslims who are part time hindus.
Arien these guys neva grow up .. so just ignore like this puckin thred .

Well said Ambat. Don't bring sensitive issues in here. whether one beleives or not, should learn to respect others sentiments.
Put some social causes for debate instead
Mudslinging and abuse is usually reserved for Islam :O)
get in.
I cannot see anything funny in above question.
Please respect other's religion and their beliefs if you wish the same for yourself.
Do not start controversial topics like this.
Why are you putting Ram in a difficult situation now. People will get into mud slinging before you know it buddy. Sad!!
Life is Beautiful...Indeed!
