My bank cannot help apparantly, how can I set up an account which will allow me to buy shares in Qatar??

well,i'm Egyptian & i've been living in qata for almost a week now, I'm into the Stock market career, I'm a market Chartered Technician (CMT1), its a certificate from USA if u r not famlioure with.
for buying stocks in Qatar i guess as my exprience in Egypt it would be the same in Qatar too.
first step is to go to a brokerage company or a bank and ask for having an account with them, to get an account number with a brokerage company u need to be registered at Qatar Exchange in advance, so the brokerage company would do this service for u , by giving them certain papers about ur Identity (ur ID )and they will do the registration for u, by that u would be having 2 numbers, one for Qatar Exchange & the other is for ur brokerage company.
Share TRADING is a very risky business, and meant for professional traders who understand how the price movement takes place. For ordinary people it is wise to INVEST in mutual funds for LONG TERM at regular investment with an eye to buil wealth. Once you get some understanding of the market you could buy good stocks at regular intervels.
Greed and Panic are two situations one has to avoid.
My personal experince is that whenever I tried to trade, I lost money and when every I invested for long time, made profit :)
You may start reading books like Intelligent Investor
Buy vodafone, or ANY major company that goes to the stock market, if possible LOADS... sell after 1 or 2 weeks. Do not wait or be greedy, it will drop as quick as it rises.
Example Ezdan started at 13 went to 47 in no time (or so) and is now back and keeps on dropping.
It is like sex... get in get out and run. Do not be greedy for more, she will screw you.
you have to go to the DSM and complete a registration form together with a QR 100 application fee. Just bring along your ID card (and from memory your bank account no.)
then you have your choice of brokers to choose from in the same building, they'll give you directions. i've set up with The Group...they're relatively inexpensive.
alternatively you can open a QNB trading account, you can trade online and in US & AUS equities......prob some other countries as well but they're pretty expensive.
