Africans are better taxi drivers than Indians

They don't cheat on the taxi meter/fare.

Plus they play Celine Dion on stereo rather than a Hindi/Malayalam radio/cassette. LOL

verisimilitude

I was thinking the same too... why should the driver indulge the passenger in terms of musical taste? :-/

Heero may not mind but if I had to hear Celine Dion :-o

If I had to hear "Far across the distance" once more... I'd go crazy

Unless one is into 'radio jockeying' I don't think he has to oblige others by putting the songs of their liking. Meaning the drivers are not RJ's and they are fully entitiled to listen to any music whatsoever. I don't understand Malayalam songs but nonetheless the music is pleasing - moreso after 'SlumDog .....' won many awards for music --- and guess what the music director is from Kerela. Heero, I reckon you come out of your comfort zone and try listening to fusion music.

another incident happened to us, this time in a bus, from villagio we took a ride by a bus, and its already 10:30 pm, we are hoping to catch another bus number 102 at the terminal, but the bus 32 was too slow, anyway before reaching the terminal, the driver i dont know his nationality, stopped past the road with swords on top, i dont know the name of the street, he started lighting a cigarette and there puffed for almost 5 minutes, we begged him to bring us to the terminal as we need to catch another trip, and he keeps on mocking, when i shouted to him telling him to go, he did, according to the other kabayans there the reason is that its too early for him to time out!....huh????

By azilana7037• 22 Jul 2009 07:54

if the code is "1" that is the day tariff from 5:01AM to 9PM. The Code "0" is the night tariff from 9:01Pm to 5AM.

Code "0" is also used when the destination is (anywhere in) Doha going outside like Sealine, Ras Laffan or Al Khor. This is because there's no passenger going back to Doha, or whatever is applicable. If this is the case, the driver informs the passsenger before accepting the passenger. Call center agents do this top avoid miscommunication/arguments.

So, do check the meter when embarking a karwa taxi. If they don't turn on their meter, here's what you do:

1. Check their company ID(they always wear them);

2. Get their driver number and name.

3. Get the taxi number and

4. Remember the time/date when it happened and where you hailed the taxi from.

You could call the Call center number (4588888) and say you're filing a complaint. The person would either transfer you to the Operations Dept or they will take down note of your complaint and hand it over to the Operations Dept.

You need to give your contact number and name coz they will call you for verification of your complaint, if you wanna pursue your complaints or not. Most often than not, those who complaints forgets it...

Taxi meters cannot be cheated to answer you question. but by not using the meter and asking for more than the rate of the meter is cheating, and that's what they always do specially in souq.

do you know why its hard to find taxi in doha, it's because most of them are staying near the bus stop and waiting for people who wants to go to alkhor and charge them certain amount individually. if ask why they don't use their meter, they just say they rented the cab and they don't get their salary monthly. f+cked up karwa

By Rizks• 22 Jul 2009 07:32
Rizks

so dumb people are ?

Obviously when u see the meter down, you should ask the cab driver to ON it and you will pay only according to the meter and TATZ THE RULE.

If he still doesn't ON it you dont pay - Simple !

If he argues, take down his name and the taxi number plate and tell him tat u gonna complain to Police and his office about this.

Not just sit like a clown and follow ever he says...:(

Thers no way Azi that one can cheat on these mete

rs without getting caught in the process. Only way is when they try to take some longer way to increase the bill, which ofcourse if u in Doha long enough u will know or they simply ask in the beginning, I wont operate the meter, u give me slightly less than the meter fare which will be X Riyals so pay me 5 riyals less..

No actual way to cheat on meters..
