my baby boy is 5 month old and his weight is only 5.2 kg.he was born only 2.1 kg.I have started giving him mashed veg.fruites and milupa{baby food}.every body says he is so thin.pls suggest what should i do to increase his weight and share your expiriences.
I recommend you to see the Doctor and if he says ur baby is fine just follow his advice, there is nothing wrong with his weight, and probably that's his body type as long he is eating and is healthy I wouldn't worry. My advice don't try to over feed him and maybe just ask Doctor if there is a need for vitamins. At last do not let people comments to affect ur mind and to make you worry (babies don't need to look fat to be healthy)trust in God and enjoy your baby.
If your paediatrician says your baby is too thin then she will advise you what course to take. If friends/family say the baby is too thin AND you agree with them then again, the paediatrician is the only person to take advice from. This really is not a question for QL other than to ask where to get the correct advice. If this is your first baby it is difficult to know the right thing to do and who to listen to. Always ask these serious questions of a professional. If you are not completely satisfied with this advice, GET A SECOND OPINION. If your baby is listless and not appearing to thrive then it is also necessary to seek paediatric advice.
A five month old baby should be having regular medical check-ups at this age, regardless of the state of its health. Find a doctor you are happy with and be guided as to how often you need to make appointments for weight monitoring.
Sounds like you are doing a fine job. Just get reassurance.
Better don't give an ear for anything. Its depends the nature of your baby's body. If yourself had the thought before, its better consult with a good pediatrician.
It is perfect weight for a baby as per the weight of birth.remember simply double at 6 months of birth weight and triple at one year.
Then slows the process and baby 2 years can be 12-13 kg.
3 yrs 12 -15 Kg and 4 yrs 14-17kg and so on simply watch 2-3 kg per year.
As Mother i appriciate your concern but pay attention to another parameter like social and intelectual milestone devlopment.Your baby was born low weight so it may be due to your constitution or many reason mainly prematured delivery etc
I am not sure why you are hurry to have weaning as exclusive breast feeding upto six months for normal
mother will be enough. If you have started feeding
the best food will be home made whatever parent eat.
Soft food Khichadi (smashed with pulse ghee and rice
and some flavour according to region )will be the best
food to grow.Eggs boiled are good source of protien and
major source of tear and wear process for growing babies. But at the same time do not make obese baby as
that is what happening in many metropolitian cities
in India.
At the moment your baby weight is alright do take you people shape in considration then hearing what other says.Goode luck for raering child healthy and fit.
Yes my son was also born at 2.35 kg and now he is 7 months old.He is absolutely fine if he eats and drinks milk properly. He drinks milk powder of Similac and rice and wheat & honey cereal. If your child is active than it is no problem BUT DO CHECK WITH A PEDIATRICIAN
go to your pediatrician. were you not given a baby book or a chart to monitor his height and weight? you should be seeing your doctor at least once a month to observe the infant's development milestones.
As long as your baby's eating the food which you give now, it's fine....if the baby has a good appetite for food, that's excellent....dont worry about the weight then, it will catch up soon, and dont listen to advices from too many people.
As the old adage goes, 'too many cooks screw the stew' (something like that i reckon ?)
If your baby does not have a good appetite, then you should take her to a good Pediatrician
You should contact your pediatrician and get medical recommendation on this.
Even though QL can give some responses and has plenty of information; this matter should be handled by a pediatrician; so yyou can get proper indications and sugestions.
