Even though it's still a long way away I was wondering if there are any activities organised during Christmas. Do a lot of people stay in Qatar or do most go home?
i still love to go to phils coz i want to celebrate it with my family and my dearest friends in phils...my christmas woudn`t be complete without my family.. :(
You can decorate a big date palm tree. We have to bring in 2 or 3 camels. And some one will have to volunteer to become the Santa Claus. And the Camels can pull the Santa with his sledge on the Sands of Umm Said. Then we can put in some good food too!
I do not have Children, indeed Steve. Surely I will adapt if my family feels the need to celebrate Christmas, of course I do go to dinners at friends houses here. I can not say no, I just adapt and appreciate the gesture of whomever invites me, I am not a complete asshole of course. Well, the latter is disputable :-P
Anyway, I just display my primary feelings about Christmas itself. I choose not to voice them, only since it is July.... I can, and I will.
Screw that, Christmas is on hell of a time for joy and other Mumbo Jumbo, it is for hypocrites!!!!
Why?
People feel the need to go to Church with Christmas while they normally NEVER go, so they go and sit in chair of an old lady that goes weekly, and feel good about themselves. Hypocrite.
People feel the need to do good with Christmas, why? Why not any other day in the year? Hypocrite.
People suddenly become friendly towards each other, while normally they do not give a flying fuck about each other. Hypocrite.
And so on and so on....
Christmas is just another excuse to get drunk and eat like a pig.
By the way, I am a very cheerful guy with a great outlook on life, Christmas... to me is just highly overrated and hypocrite. There is nothing spontaneous about it.
Christmas home since i have been here (3.5years) - can almost taste the Glazed Gammon already - ah, braai vleis and sunshine:-)

And please, don't say 'Sinterklaas' is racist, it makes me sad. It's definitely one of the Dutch holidays I'm definitely going to miss, while living abroad. :)
