American cars in Qatar

Dear all,
I am thinking to buy a used car, but still not decided which manufacturer I shall choose

The american cars are cheeper than the japanees but I concerned about the after sale services here in Qatar

I have seen the durango and the explorer, both have the same price and they are 20-30% less than the equivalent japanees cars

Would you please give me your experience and information about the american cars??

thanks

SSSS, which round about you are referring to? Or you mean toyota signal, I presume it used to be round about few years back.

Again, you get what you pay for. Japaneese cars last, and if you are looking for used one, atleast dont get a lemon. However it entirely depends on your budget. Like in 50K riyal, I got a decent X-trail, 2 year old with 30K KM on it. But in same budget i wud have get much bigger and smooth trail blaizer with less milage on it.

overall, japaneese cars are better, If you cant make to it, get a korean but not american.

After sale service for all American cars is really a concern especially after the warranty period is expired. For example fuel pump for an American 4 x 4 (Jeep Cherokee) will cost you QR 5,000+ where for a Toyota Land cruiser it is QR 1,000.

From what I have observed, Americans and Japanese Car manufacturers have different business models. American cars cost less but their maintenance charges are high and vice versa for the Japanese cars.

Since you are going for a used car I would suggest a Japanese car, but would also avoid the one with round about named after it. This is not my opinion. You can come across rants about them in this forum itself.

take into consideration that replacement parts are difficult to get...plus have to say that Japanese cars are really more reliable..
