Driving test / class a in automatic trans car

Hello Frenz,
Am quite not sure if this question was answered earlier. I was unable to find any answers. I have a driving licence from my home country (India)and am looking forward to take the driving class/test. My question here is whether I can take the licence / class in automatic transmission cars. I heard its only for ladies?? Is it true??
Your views may help me to go in the right direction..

2 yrs ago we dont have option. only manual. :(
its an Option by the way, to choose Manual or Automatic
its not fair...........2 yrs ago i have to take test in manual and learn how to use manual.....nw they give auto car for test? it felt like not driving at all.
and most of my mum friends are females, so i dont know for men........
to bad cause i know how to drive both...
