Unfair rent increase by landlord
My uncle was managing this flat for 4 years. He fell sick and went to his home country and since then, I manage the flat. The flat rent is 14,000/- and I continued to pay the same. This rent was agreed by Land lord with my uncle just three months ago at the time the building was taken over by the new landlord. The Land lord wants to increase the rent by 6,000 from next month. So the new rent will be 20,000.
There is no agreement with my uncle for the 14,000, other than receipts signed by the Land lord when rent was paid. A hike of 6,000 is far beyond what I can absorb. How can I fight this back, Is there any kind of Rent board where I can take it up with.
It maybe a little inconvenient for you but try to find another one.
Go search for another flat. Rates are going down nowadays.
I'm too on searching cheaper flats, and its positive that I can choose the lower rates.
It will take time and costly if you will rend it to court case.

20000 is to0 much just only for a flat with 4 years old building....just check in gulf times classified ads you can find a very good offer and a brand new flat....
What kind of flat and where is this flat that anyone will pay QR 20,000.

frankly, if the landlord is adamant on the new rent, then proceedings could take a huge toll. so its ideal that you play the game of "looking for a better place", this may ease him, cause the current market would not fetch the rent he is asking for.
