are we allowed to wash our cars with water ?

i know that question sounds absolutely stupid and am expecting many weird and funny retorts but my son grabbed a bucket of water and decided to surprise me and wash our car. Our neighbour approached him and said he will get a QR500 for washing with water. yes I know, it does not make sense, what else can we use? (rhetorical) Maybe the rule is for using water directly from a hose??? After all, the car washers at all the shopping are using water... at least I am certain it was water!

Yes you can wash your car as long as it doesn't cause a flood outside.

This "new" law has nothing to do with washing the car or not. It has to do with water coming/running on the street/public places.

You can wash your car (on private property) as long as the water does not run off on the street. However my neighbor washes their cars everyday and all the run-off water gets into my garage porch drive way. Until today he has not stopped doing it so I assume they have not been hit with a fine yet.So I do not think they are strict in enforcing this law. Assume they are much stricter for flats and inner city properties.

Try this trick. Buy few bottles of mineral water (keep the receipt). Start washing your car using it. See what is your neighbour reactions and with regards to law.

Due to scarcity of water it's against the law to wash your own car. You must use the designated car wash services at the garages or in the car parks, which use recycled water.

They dont allow it... they will fine you Qr 500 for doing so. Silly as it seems. but i encourage you to bring it to the car wash instead. car wash company has a license to do so.

Tell your stupid neighbour that you bought the water at Carrefour and that you can even use it to flush the toilet if you want. You paid for it!!
