New Broadband Speed by Qtel
Qtel announced today the change in broadband speed from 512 Kbps to 1 Mbps both ADSL and Mozaic TV+ customers. With the free speed improvement programme, customers currently enjoying speeds of 512 Kbps can migrate to 1 Mbps without any additional charges.
Question: Is the “migration” occurs automatically (based on existing ADSL modem) or do we have to change to a new ADSL modem to cope with this new speed?
free !!!! hehehehe ... there is an old arabic say
nothing is free except el 3amma wel traash .. hehehehe

You do not have to do anything. Qtel will upgrade the Internet speed for all existing customers automatically and seamlessly. Qtel will proactively upgrade your Internet speed and also ensure that the correct ADSL Internet speed information is reflected on your billing statement.
If you are in doubt about your new speed, then try the tests below.
Go to http://www.speedtest.qa/, and note the stated download and upload information in the screen.
After having checked local speed, check your international bandwidth using http://www.speedtest.net.
If you are simply browsing, downloading email or an email attachment, you will experience better download speeds most of the time.
If you are using your ADSL for P2P or Streaming video / movie, you may have either the same experience to one you previously had or one that is better. The results will also depend upon if your access to the Internet during the peak usage time period.
FYI - I have had an average download speed of 4.4Mbps for about a week now :-)
In the same vein, is QTEL the best internet provider, or the only internet provider here anyway.
Existing ADSL modem will work with the new speed.
