What to definitely bring along?

I'm in the process of preparing my move to Qatar. I don't get a lot of money to ship my stuff over so I really have to choose what to bring and what to leave at home. Is there anything of which you say: Definitely bring that! I'm getting a fully furnished appartment so furniture won't be necessary.
Thanx...

Qatar is not on another planet...

You get things here like you would in any other civilization ....

As BaldRick2Dogs says.... share with us your "Can't Live without List" and we ll tell you better to bring it or buy from here.....

One thing for sure... No need to pack Abayas.. You get real sexy ones here... :)

Thanks everyone for the answers.

I don't really think there is anything I can't live without. I'd like to take up riding again, but I'll bring my own things for that :)

Hey the laptop thingy was supposedly be a joke with truth on it...

Read again my very first comment am more particular with the word "PATIENCE", we all "expats" very much needs it when coming to Mideast. My joke was that.... when he lost his patience, he need a laptop to access QL to ask where to find it,:P

Just like any members who got upset with their bosses, colleagues and neighbors and post a thread in QL to rant out their angers. LOL

If you like any particular over-the-counter medicine, bring that. Some brands and types just aren't available here.

Just my thought, there's a bit hassles when you are newly arrived in Doha and look for a place to buy for a new laptop when you have one at home loaded with your important files and ready for use.

and I read the comment of Apple and myself, and if I have a good laptop (I said good one, maybe latest or recently-purchased), definitely, I'll bring it with me. You need some humor, tallg. There are certain things you will bring whether someone tell you to bring or not to bring! get it now?

Nope. I don't get it. Obviously my bad.

If you have a laptop, bring it with you, unless you're happy to blow a few thousand riyal on another.

Squarepeg is right - bring lots of 3 pin plugs and plug adaptors which have passed relevant safety standards. All the ones out here are rubbish and liable to burn out.

Much of the electrical equipment sold in Qatar has European plugs but the electrical sockets take UK plugs. Bring earthed European extension leads (and change the plugs for UK ones when you arrive). The adaptors available here are not safe. I personally regret not bringing my cotton blankets, so much cooler than even the lightest duvet.

(on why the need to bring laptop) fun is already there! You still don't get it tallg? Lol!!!

I obviously missed the joke.

Jackets and coats take up a lot of room...don't bother! I didn't wear a jacket once last winter (if that's what you want to call it).

Instead, bring a few sweaters.

Also, if there are any medications that you really rely on, or other products---bring a supply of those. You may not find them here.
