How do I find a school for my 2 young children who are in the UK?

Hi All

I need some help.

I recently moved to Doha about 4 days ago.

I am planning to have my family join me in August/September time.

I work in the West Bay area and I have decided to rent a short term studio and then get something more appropriate for the family nearer the time the family comes, plus also allows time for my visa to be sorted out.

The main question I have and I have been told by many that getting places in schools is very difficult. My children are 8 and 4 in Year 3 and nursery currently. The will be in years 4 and 1 for September.

The school would of course need to be an english speaking school as thats their primary language although they have pakistani background and speak urdu aswell but English is the MAIN language.

Can someone please help as I am very confused about how to go about things and what actions need to be taken.

Many Thanks

OK thanks. I have printed the forms for both DESS and montessori. Do these schools have high waiting lists or will I be OK if I submit the forms in the next few weeks?

Enroll them into the Montessori and British School. I know the owner of the school personally so if you want an introduction let me know, they will get places.

Yes they are british born and hold british passports.

Where is DESS located? obviously need to get an understanding of that as I will need to sort out accommodation once they are here.

Thanks

If your kids hold british passport they will have a priority to get into DESS. But still you need to go down there and 'show face' to their office people. Most school dont entertain applicant through phone.
