Will Wii Work in USA?

Was looking to buy a Wii (Nintendo?) game package, but not sure if it will work with US television sets, or whether games purchased in the US can be played on it. Anyone know if a Wii purchased here is US-compatible?

Oh, and then I went to buy a game. QR285 for one game?!?! Highway robbery! I got on eBay and ordered half a dozen for a fraction of the price.

I took your advice and was looking for an NTSC version. Ended up finding one that worked with both NTSC and PAL, and played all regions. (I forgot about the region 1 / region 2 issue) It cost QR1495 new, but it came without warranty, and I had to sign a paper acknowledging that I knew it didn't have a warranty. So far the games are working great, and no issue with TV compatibility.

Yes, she is right. Buy a NTSC system and NTSC games. Technical Care Center (TCC) has outlets all around town and they sell both the system and the games.
Just buy an NTSC compatible system not a PAL one. Both are available in Qatar.
