Environmentally Unfriendly

Hey guys, what do you say to this?

This shot is of the Ministry of Environment - A Government office that most likely closes for business at 2pm, and yet here they are, protecting our environment by leaving every single light in the building turned on at 8:30 in the evening.

Good housekeeking begins at home? Not for this crowd.

Still, it wouldn't be such a nice shot if the lights were out eh?

on,when no one is in...maybe the place would get robbed or vandalized if the lights were turned off?

It's normal for Doha. Just take a look at those No Smoking signs in Shopping Malls. Does local guys obey them?? The answer is No. No excuse for not be able to read cuz it's also come in picture.

I've just decided to nickname Mrs Expat - Qatar..

She also suffers from extremes of Hotness and Coldness.

Your argument doesn't fly.

You said Qatar has extremes of both hot and cold... Extreme Hot, I agree, but Extreme Cold in Qatar? No, I don't think so. You don't know what extreme cold is. You don't see any snow or ice in Qatar during winter, do you?

By thegr8spy• 29 Apr 2009 07:28

This country is not just hot. It has extremes of both hot and cold ie it is an extreme climate country so may be if that's the purpose it suits thats why they bought it.

Not only that... in such a hot climate country, they still buy designs of building which are only suitable for cold climate countries. This one is all covered with glasses and for sure the air-conditioner will have to work extra hard.

they could be cleaning or still working on the building.

Tall, all of the above! That's the great thing about 'live view' you have to lock the mirror up for the image to reach the sensor :o)

nomad - I'm guess it was with tripod, cable release, and mirror lock-up! I think rigamortis would have to have set in to get an image that steady at night from handheld!

And it looks like an HDR composition.

we don't see such lights normally in Qatar's Buildings.

Anyhow, Muncipality has stated a fine of few thousands for those who keep their lights open from specific time.

.

Well, the whole world is crying to save energy and to go more greener. Well, from this picture, i don't think Qatari Government gives a sh*t about it

I've often thought that as I drive by there.

Is the building actually in use now? I thought it was still empty, hence why it's so bright - because there's no partition walls put up yet?

Nice photo, btw.
