Environmentally Unfriendly
By baldrick2dogs •
Hey guys, what do you say to this?
This shot is of the Ministry of Environment - A Government office that most likely closes for business at 2pm, and yet here they are, protecting our environment by leaving every single light in the building turned on at 8:30 in the evening.
Good housekeeking begins at home? Not for this crowd.
Still, it wouldn't be such a nice shot if the lights were out eh?
on,when no one is in...maybe the place would get robbed or vandalized if the lights were turned off?
It's normal for Doha. Just take a look at those No Smoking signs in Shopping Malls. Does local guys obey them?? The answer is No. No excuse for not be able to read cuz it's also come in picture.
I've just decided to nickname Mrs Expat - Qatar..
She also suffers from extremes of Hotness and Coldness.
Your argument doesn't fly.
You said Qatar has extremes of both hot and cold... Extreme Hot, I agree, but Extreme Cold in Qatar? No, I don't think so. You don't know what extreme cold is. You don't see any snow or ice in Qatar during winter, do you?
This country is not just hot. It has extremes of both hot and cold ie it is an extreme climate country so may be if that's the purpose it suits thats why they bought it.
Not only that... in such a hot climate country, they still buy designs of building which are only suitable for cold climate countries. This one is all covered with glasses and for sure the air-conditioner will have to work extra hard.
they could be cleaning or still working on the building.
nyc fotografy ;) thumbs up!!
where is the place of this environment building???:o
Come on people...
Westbay nees to be lit up.. Otherwise its just a bunch of grey buildings .
Kahramaa is another example of Environment Unfriendly.
Go check out Kahramaa building before and after sunset

Only Love & Respect of Others Make us Human.
Baldrick, it is not just this building but every building in westbay Area is like this, my own office building just down from this building has lights on in the night. I was wondering is there someone working in my office?..hmmm

HE WHO DARES WINS
UkEng ... hv you ever read your water and electric bill? It is written somewhere that we must conserve water and electric wisely or something along the line.
We paying for the water and electric .... of course we save them ! Doh !
Good point Novita.. The fact is that the Qataris dont pay the Electrical and Water Bills.

HE WHO DARES WINS
baldrick ! Qatari dont pay electric. So does the 'Qatari Building'.
action speak louder than words, with all the PR the Qatar is doing, it does not mean a single word because you can see in their actions
hmmm
I'll do better, you can have my lollercoaster

dont ask any question to Queen Bee...
So they're on for testing Queen Bee? Thanks for clarifying.
As far as i know, they haven't moved to the building yet.As the ministry is newly established, all they do now the is attend international conferences;)
And bother other government offices with their requirements
first it is a good shoot really
we have to keep all the power stations running full capacity so will will not have a big shut down ( Just kidding)
There was a masive malfunction in the electric DB system .......the new db system is undergoing testing....have patience... and in few days time the lights will be switched off after normal working hours.....till thne enzoi the view....and pls dont ask me any questions.
Any guess about the electricity Bill the building would be running up?
I wonder if the Air cons are on too?....who cares eh?
the pic is neat..... but im sure they dint adhere to the one hour lights shut down " save earth"
plainly showing off.
Well spotted. That would be heck of a steady hand for 20 seconds!
you're right tallg, exif file shows a 20sec exposure..
I need you to take me out and give me some tips on shooting buildings. I want to get a load before I leave for good.
Tall, all of the above! That's the great thing about 'live view' you have to lock the mirror up for the image to reach the sensor :o)
nomad - I'm guess it was with tripod, cable release, and mirror lock-up! I think rigamortis would have to have set in to get an image that steady at night from handheld!
And it looks like an HDR composition.
lmfaooooooooooooooo @ baldrick.
Nice! did you take this pic handheld Baldrick?
so they need the light. There are no more dedicated employees in Qatar than those that work at the ministries.
I need SAMAEL's Roflcopter..........:)
too much furs here in QL... ^_^
gives a homey feeling.
"I don't go back on my words, that's my way of ninja"
Maybe one day they'll see the light and start conserving energy. :/
Nah, it's a dig at Atif. I'm covering ma bitch ... and I'm allowed to say that :o)
LOL Brit!
"Ali Baba and 40 thieves" are now "Ali Baba and 30 thieves" ; 10 were laid off.
so they can afford it?
ngeeek!!! ;P
He's gone Ninja.. I'm sure he has a cunning plan he's working on..
You stick it to the man. ECO Qatar truely an example to the world.
Oops Sorry forgot all of the 5/6mpg cars, Plan once build 2/3 times mentality.

action speaks louder than words
The lights are green. So they must be environmently friendly.
we don't see such lights normally in Qatar's Buildings.
Anyhow, Muncipality has stated a fine of few thousands for those who keep their lights open from specific time.
.
Well, the whole world is crying to save energy and to go more greener. Well, from this picture, i don't think Qatari Government gives a sh*t about it
-------------------------------------------------------
Everybody wishes they could go to heaven but no one wants to die.
I've often thought that as I drive by there.
Is the building actually in use now? I thought it was still empty, hence why it's so bright - because there's no partition walls put up yet?
Nice photo, btw.
