I didn't come here for 'money', i made in my country about the same.. it just happened this way...4-5 years ago i didn't know anything about Qatar, then i came here to visit my ex (he got a job here in 2005), and i liked the country and i said, why wouldn't i come here for a while for a change? It was a challenge, it seemed to be romantic and exotic..and I did.. no regrets.. but i always keep in mind, the moment i get fed up with all this chaos, i pack my stuff, and go back home - to my cold, but soo systematic, understandable and beautiful country...

THANX allot for ur answers ^^

i asked this question bcoz me 'n my coz'n were discussing about why would any one come to Qatar by choice ? .. it's not that i hate my country , i LOVE it

but i didn't think that others would .. coz there are a million things that needs to be fixed

unless u were born 'n raised here .. why would u put up with it ? is it worth it to go away and leave every thing behind ?

am here cos my hubby is here ... in short we r here to make money.

eight years ago when i came here thought that we will earn and save something and get back home within 2 years and still we r here and donno how long we r gonna b here....

Truth is as years passed we started liking this place for many reasons .. its really good for peaceful family life ... though the entertainment factor is slightly lesser than UAE .

for the money, but because my husband and I discussed his position he has here and decided he really wanted to be involved in the process and administration of the company. We are life members of this company and wanted to make it a success here in Qatar, which is what has happened. The young people who are a part of it are absolutely amazing...some are Qatari and some are from all parts of the world. They have every right to be proud of their accomplishments.

As far as Qatar itself is concerned...I know its trying its best to grow along with the population and economic growth...but I, for one, do not like the way its progressing as it seems to be losing a lot of the personality it had. So many things have been put aside in the name of progress. I will say tho that the people are still as nice as they have always been....always most gracious. And...I love the geography and weather here (ok, I will admit that August is a bit much!).

I truly hate to see those billboards at the intersections and the advertising signs along the medians of roads. To me...those block the beauty of this country. I would rather see sand or even tractors and backhoes instead of advertising blocking the view.

May Qatar continue to grow but not at the expense of its own personality and people.

If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous, he will not bite you; that is the main difference between a dog and man.

My grandfather was here then my father came here from Pakistan at the age of 18, spent more than 30 years in Qatar Armed Forces then he retired and went back to LAHORE.

Now as I was born & raised in Qatar, I was left behind to support my family and to start my own life too.

As I’m in doha for more than 28 years so I have observed some nice changes but only from year 2000 onwards. Qatar is very far behind from U.A.E. in technology, entertainment, Infrastructure, Visa Policies for expatriates, Living Standards ,high rise buildings and GOD knows what else (Add if I missed something)
