Friends visiting
Hi, I will be moving to Doha in mid-May, as a single male, on a permanent contract. The company have already allocated my accommodation.
I have grown up daughters who may well come and visit me, but my question regards friends, particularly female friends, staying with me.
Is this a big no-no, or is it a case of just applying some common-sense and not flaunting the fact I have female guests staying with me? I have never lived in a middle-eastern country before, but from what I know as long as foreigners keep a low public profile they should be ok.
Or is it the case that female friends could never stay over at my apartment eg they would need to tell immigration an accommodation address, and if that addres is not a hotel, then who they would be staying with?
Thanks, Roy
I think I'd have a "cover story" ready for when you introduce your friend such as, "This is Mary, she's visiting our friends the Smith's here in Doha." It's not as if anyone would do a bed check as long as you had plausible deniability.
you seem to be having common sense, so you will not have any problem unless somebody deliberately makes a complaint against you. Otherwise it is fine.
You'll be fine, just keep it low profile and don't make an enemy of your neighbours.
