You know what? Stop spoonfeeding the locals.
By letting them eat their food with some maid's hands holding their spoon, you let them stop to learn how they can scoop on their own from their own plate.
By letting them cook their own food by some hired cook, you let them forget or not learn what their own traditional cooking is.
By letting them pay the money to build them their proud buildings, you let them diminish their own Qatari culture which was indeterminate with all the worthless modern buildings showing up afront of the air and seaports for tourists.
By letting them drive their own muscle cars, you let them forget how to walk on their own.
By letting them kids play recklessly with their bunch of 'toys', you let them forget to learn manners.
By letting them not handle the management or supervision or control of their own company, you let them turn a blind eye of how unprofessional and corruptive the 'managers' can be by leaving them 'lower ranks' to not being paid or supplemented with necessities properly.
By letting them get their supply of food from other countries, you let them forget how to plant their for their own living.
By letting them focus on the Israel-Palestine thing, you let them forget the welfare of their own citizens/employees in this place which makes it no different to those Palestinians being hurt by their conflicts over there.
By letting them hate the Westerns like USA or European countries, you make them learn how to be racist to even the Asians and Africans in effect by telling them that Westerns are 'evil' and everyone 'against' Islam.
By letting them stuck in Arabic learning and not learn English, you make them lose more than half of the beautiness of the world outside this country.
In this modern world, internet is the great equalizer.
Beeseh's comment is not what I had in mind when I posted the topic. Beeseh's waaay below the belt.

It's worse than that diamond: he's got a mind that's full of hatred and venom and he's got to live with it wherever he goes.
want a Bone to play with?

Thanks Qatar!!
Yurk. Don't waste your breath PM. The poor man is living in a country he hates with people he loathes. Feel some pity for him. It must be hell ;)

Well, Western expats speak at least 2 languages fluently. And no, Qatar is certainly not God for me. It's merely a source of money though being a professional it's pretty hard for me as sometimes I have the feeling I work with a bunch of monkeys. All I can hear is how I can't offer anything to Qatar only because I don't speak Arabic fluently. What about being a certified HW architect applying for a job at a company where their fat GM has absolutely NO IDEA about their own products and I have to tell him what they are selling??? About the schools, your schools are nicely said below expectations, they cannot be compared to western schools. They have no level at all. And how can it be that university students who are supposed to have a certificate of English in order to enroll at university do not speak English fluently??? Democracy is something for clever ppl who know how to use their brains. Qatar is against democracy. Conclusion? It's not an insult, it's a statement that should have been said long time ago. There are a few exceptions but 99.9% is just like it was said before. Instead of pouting Qataris should exercise some constructive self-criticism and change their ways.
if they had to cook most probably they'd starve. if we wouldn't build their houses they'd still live in tents made of camel shit. walking with 150 kilos around your waste is quite tiresome. they never had manners. they hate everything that's not them. I know university students of MBA program who can't tell 10% of 627 without using a calculator. 99.9% of them cannot write in English, they have no idea about grammar, vocabulary, anything. they think Montenegro is in Canada. oh yeah, and the top hit is there were 3 world wars. if at least they had enough backbone to hold on to their religion but no way, in the evening they get drunk as a skunk, go to swinger parties, enjoy they services of those "nice ladies"... congrats Qatar, you're on the right path, though not sure where this leads to once your oil and gas are gone...?
what happened you didn't receive your last month salary; protest at NHRC and resign from the current job.
Bleu - Its crap and dont even worth commenting. appologies bro

PM and Alexa, thanks for the kind words, some of the people here are "blind" to the truth, and judge by their biased ideas.
Yes, HY, just like the BBC reporter, you'd like to see us as Bus Drivers, Bell boys, Waiters, .... then you'd be comfortable to see us serving you... That's a very racist attitude. And QL is becoming more and more a site where people show how much they hate us for being rich.
Who's the worst driver : The Landcruiser Driver, of course.
Stop spoonfeeding the locals...
And many more posts here...
Let me reiterate this again: spoonfeeders.
With the quality of the structures/buildings built in Qatar and the unaccomodated necessities of the workers, who's making a fool on the local's money?
"Everything in this book may be wrong." Illusions: The Adventures of The Reluctant Messiah by Richard Bach
has so much on their minds right now. just imagine being outnumbered by expats in your own country. just give them enough time and room to grow and they will excel at their own pace im sure. theres just 1 thing i definitely agree with you heero, that some of the expats are abusing their positions and the good natured qataris for their own selfish reasons.

By saying that bleu, I deserved an insult. He made a very bad comment and I do not accept that, there are rules in this website, and I think that we are note allowed to put a private member's profile online for all the users and I intende de follow up this. Shame on you Hero...
assimilate and learn.and maybe then you could come up with something to contribute later.
and then again,if its not about money, why did you come here?
btw,i never said anything about money and profession,so in other words, never put words in my mouth, thank you.
A somewhat 'diminishing' culture as what the BBC correspondent (re:tallg's earlier topic) didn't see when she visited this place.
And what is it with you all and that floggin' money anyway?? Money was not my primary reason why I came here.

it might be that the thread starter notice the lack of local workforce in the lower and middle ranks. or maybe the number of expats in qatar is just too overwhelming.
with that said, its still their country and they are the ones who decide on what should and shouldnt be done...
just my two cents..
"For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack."
Kabayan! Sali na sa Barangay!!!
Heero "The Zero" ...again?
i totally agree with you on that.how ungrateful some people are,really...
the question is why are you so bothered about what is happening to them?you seem to be most bothered about so,why do you stay? really?are you a tourist?
and another thing,assimilate.learn it,live it,breathe it.
heero_yuy2, your language implies that Qataris are spoiled BABIES... so it is Qatari bashing disguised as something else.
And you're not letting us do anything, we're letting you come in here and make lots of money.
Who taught you they're both the same?

Am I doing this to them?
I think first I have to learn better English to understand the meaning of above sent's
Everything gonna be alright!!!
and do not make allegations that everybody in QL is spoonfeeding the locals,or are you just talking about yourself?
one more thing,if you do not agree with the "spoonfeeding" why are you still here? really why?
Unless you're one of them spoonfeeders, are you not?

But 'who' is doing this letting and all?....
Everything gonna be alright!!!
Why do you all think the post was about Qatari-bashing?

If he was, I think he'd have thrown that dog in front of the steam boat...
If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous, he will not bite you; that is the main difference between a dog and man.

Scarlett, I would assume Mark Twain was talking about heero
heero...there is no excuse for this thread..its incredibly insulting. You owe the Qataris a HUGE apology...

This is so ludicrous I can't even take it seriously. Shall I write it in Arabic too...I wouldn't be wanting to forget my native tongue, now would I? How about French or Spanish or Italian or German...am I allowed to speak 6 languages or should I be confined to one only?
Get real. What a lot of tosh.

britexpat, which one do you want to try out. I can still use any of my other cars, I hate exercise.
That was offensive and stupid, if you want my opinion. So you want to teach them all English to help defend their culture (they've already voted to make English the medium of instruction in their schools, didn't you know that?). You want to get rid of modern technology (desalination plants included?) and teach them how to grow crops in the sand, so they are self-reliant?
I'm sure the Qataris are deeply aware of the erosion of traditional ways that accompanies modernisation. I'm glad I'm not Qatari because I wouldn't want to have to deal with the rate of social change that Qataris my age have had to cope with. I'm sure it is a genuine dilemma for them to try to adopt what is good for their families and society and to reject what is harmful, even if it seems useful.
This thread can easily be flipped toward the financial top 20% living in the West. Qataris make up so little of the population here, and to be frank some of the points are just senseless ("Let the kids play with their toys so they forget manners"? Hello, we have our own child reaering problems dont we? If not Super Nanny would be unemployed)
People with money everywhere have cooks, maids, and last time I checked i didnt see any pictures of Bill Gates out there mending the fences of Microsoft.
You want them to remember their Qatari culture then critisize them for not learning in the English manner?
And the food import comment, come on...

Than it's just like you come to my house I feed you give you everything you ever wanted and while you are sitting in my living room critisising my house, my family, my kids, the way we walk, eat, clean and on and on... God Qatar is giving you money, you work for it naturaly but you cant have it in your home country, you probably have good house, a car and a salary, can t you just enjoy it here without critics, if you want to change anything at all go to your home country, do something for your futur. I hear around me all the time people complaining about this and that, I dont understand their attitude, if you dont like the country go away or give some respect , we are having good schools for our kids, they walk free around how many of us have this advantages at home??? and also dont tell me it's free site, for democraty we can say what ever we want, no, people from QL should not tolerate this kind of insults.
Heero.. what you posted is very dangerous.. If all the things that you have posted above were done the locals.. I assure that many thousands will be on the way home..
