Constipation

Can you please advise what is the good remedy for a constipated person. My friend was constipated for a long time, she already took dulcolax, movicol, eucarbon and motilium as per doctor’s advise but after she stopped taking these medications, she will suffer again. Doctor’s said there’s no problem on her colon. She drinks a lot of waters too and eat prunes. Any suggestions, especially for those having same experience. Thanks in advance

A lot of people have suggested foods to eat to try and increase the fibre in your friends diet.

But I am going to offer an alternative explanation. Your friend may be intolerant to some foods. The most common intolerace to food comes from wheat and products that contain gluten, like bread. Food intolerance is not the same as a food allergy, but it means that your body is not able to process certain foods very easily. Resulting in bloating, gasiness, and constipation. Finding out which foods cause the intolerance can be a matter of trial and error. Try getting your friend to cut back on breads or similar foods first, as that is the most common culprit, and see if she finds her bowel movements a little more regular.

1. Eat a lot of fibrous foods. you may research on the internet the foods that are high in fiber usually whole grains. Fruits and vegetable are also high in fiber but a serving usually contains only 2g which is way below the minimum requirement of 25 to 35 grams a day. High fiber diet and lots of water go hand in hand in treating constipation. Try to visit Nutritiondata.com for Fiber content of each serving of food so that you may track your fiber intake. It will also help you know the nutritional value of each food.

2. Try Psyllium Fiber Supplement which is available in the pharmacy. Its good for colon cleansing.

3. Why not try the Salt Water Flush. try again to research on it on the Internet for details.

4. Visit this website for Home remedy on constipation www.home-remedies-for-you.com.

there are also other home remedy solutions for other problems.

goodluck!!!

Ms. Jheng, all of the suggestions above are correct in my opinion., but please bear in mind that we are different, we have different intestinal tissues, cells, the way we eat, the way we drink. For the record, Constipation usually happens because the colon absorbs too much water from the food. If the food moves through the gastro-intestinal tract too slowly, the colon may absorb too much water, resulting in feces that are dry and hard.

It is a good thing to analyze your friend's situation first, some of the causes of constipation are dietary, hormonal or side effects of medication, you may follow what they suggest above but the best way is to undergo your friend on a general check up. I hope it helps

one need to be careful with selection of food consumption, as no time for lunch, skipping lunch or breakfast, and being in Gulf (both are working) depending on outside unhealthy spicy (restaurant) food habit are the major reasons for constipation.

As suggested above plus the following:

Drink water as much as possible before meals and as you wake up in the morning.

Breakfast is MUST, Regular fix timing meals, light dinners and LIVE stress free life style...don't carry the office burden to home.

Hopefully disciplined life-style should help you more than regular medicines

there are many factors for the occurrence of constipation.

I suggest you eat a lot of Fibrous Foods.(e.g. whole wheat breads, legumes, prunes and nuts)

don't forget to do regular exercise. Sometimes, lack of exercise lessen the gastric motility and digestion.

And lastly, drink a lot of water. At least 2-3L/day.

Happy eating!^_^

Well you can buy 500ml of fresh milk, do not boil it or anything just directly from the bottle gulp it down in one sip and then wait and see. Always worked for me :)

If nothing else works then perhaps she needs a suction tanker :p

I'm suffering from chronic constipation too, tried dulcolax, motilum, fibres intake nothing worked much. The best think is to take raw carrot juice daily (morning/night) without fail. It works great.

Inshaallah, this article will help you a lot.

Dont eat pineapples, papaya to relieve constipation as as it raises body heat.
