Canadians In Qatar
Hi there,
I will be moving to Qatar with my family (wife and 2 kids, 2 and 3 years old) and would appreciate your help in answering my questions below:
- Are there many Canadians live in Qatar?
- I know there is a Canadian school in Doha, do they have programs for pre-school ages?
- How is the area near the Canadian school if we plan to live there? What area would you suggest otherwise? My housing budget is QR15,000.
- Is there any common Canadian club?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Sure is, there are loads of English speaking nurseries that will run you about QR 2000-2500 per month.

Kidding. There are plenty of Canadians here, I'm presently working with about ten of them.
The most active social group is called Canadians in Qatar. They put a few events together every year, I believe the Canadian Ball is the highlight. Pretty fancy, but a great way to meet people.
You can find them online here: http://canadiansinqatar.com/
I don't have kids, am afraid I can't help you with the school question. Best of luck on your journey!
DaRu has special feelings towards canadians :)
wallah, Da.. you have to admit, canadians are the best..:)
There are a lot of canadians here (no canadian embassy though, but they are working on it, and it will come soon)
There is a Canadian group on QL, but i am not sure how active they are.
There is a canadian warden in Qatar. You can register with them for the events and news..
welcome to Doha..

The Canadian School has a KG program from age 3 and up. They currently have grades up to 10 and are based on an Alberta Cirriculum. The school is in an area called Duhail and you should be able to find a house for 15,000, look for something near the Landmark Mall. The College of the North Atlantic is here in Qatar, and their staff (and most of the kids that go to the Canadian School) live in the Al Jazeera compounds.
I am not sure about Canadian groups, I have been here for quite some time and never encountered one but Qatar is a lovely diverse place and regardless of nationality you will find lots of people to befriend.
If your wife wants to meet some people there is a lovely group called Doha Expat Mums and Kids, there are 250 members from around 48 countries who get together for playgroups, trips, family outings, Ladies nights out etc. _____________________________________________________
