Is it fair to terminate staff without compliance in proper uniform?
I knew one lady working in a prestigious hospital was being terminated with two weeks prior notice ONLY...and the reason was not compliance in wearing proper uniform...She was working for only 7 months, with two years contract...and was hired thru agency on her home country...She was shocked and really surpised when she received the termination letter with no to mentioned reasons,....but somebody told her from reliable source that she was been politically victim only, coz one of the senior always remindered her about the unform....she always wore a decent and proper dress BUT only they are requiring her to wear BLACK.But since she had lots of office dress from her homecountry, with diff.color, she used to wear those type, which is colorful. And most of the girls working in there are all the same, except those who are wearing ABAYA.DID YOU THINK ITS FAIR, terminating because of not wearing BLACK DRESS?....and to think that she's working very hard, with good attitude and personality, a mother of 3 in college..and then, they will CUT right a way her future bec of this very light reason...????how pity this lady, doing good but dont get a chance to expain...they suppose to give warning or suspensions altleast before terminating right? Can anybody give some opinions or suggestions for her what to do?i dont know if she's still here in Doha, but i heard that she's fighting for a release or NOC.....
As a piece of advice, better to talk to her for the nth time or for the last time and address your issue (uniform) and discuss with her repercussion of violating it which is termination. If she didnt change then terminate her at least you gave her another chance and consideration.
As you said, one of the seniors reminded her about the correct uniform several times. Yes, one may be terminated for being out of uniform. Just ask any airline employee.
all the so called prestgious hospitals here have their own uniform....if she was wearing something of her own at work..thats a good enough reason to be terminated.
