leave those satellite dish to tenants alone. You have no idea to live there without it. Beside, what's the use of paying the 1-year subscription if throwing your dish away?

well boo to all those who ridicule the barwa project. we have friends living there and they enjoy many facilities. there are kids play areas, spacious parking, a 24hr call centre with maintenance which attends immediately to your problems and mozaic TV at a cheaper rate.

the gym, swimming pool and the tennis courts are ready but not yet opened up we hear. there's a supermarket nearing completion and i wonder how many of you can get those facilities in a compound with such a low rent?

it's the tenants who need to maintain their houses.

barwa has banned satellite dishes and anything to be left outside the houses for maintenance reasons but unfortunately many tenants do not heed that we can see.

lucky luciano maybe u r too used to the ghettos that u see the barwa compound as one too. go visit it sometime.

Hi,

I am staying in Barwa Housing Complex(3 Bedroom), Abu Hamour.

All I can say is its just "awesome". I have nothing to complain about...I don't know if there are any other places in doha at this affordable rates...Three spacious bedrooms, One big visiting hall, Kitchen, 3 Bathrooms..What more could you ask? ..

Have MOZAIC TV here with high speed net too ... Download rates are at in and around 160 kB/s(Kilo Bytes)..What more do you want??...I am really happy about the ambience and the settings...

The only problem I can find is going to city might take some time due to the traffic congestions but I guess I can live with that...

Cheers

not for the Barwa fast track housing either phase. Phase I had already been commissioned, Phase II is under construction , BUT the tenants were already finalized and the list made ready. so all the best for the barwa city, but again its not affordable housing alike fast track affordable housing. Barwa aims to come with more of similar Affordable housing projects, but awaiting govt approval. All the Best.

The construction by Bilfinger is truly neat and of great quality, no doubt. and hope to see yet another milestone by Barwa soon in Qatar. cheers to Barwa and Bilfinger... Guten tag.

the rate Doha is growing, it wont be far anymore....

By shyams• 27 May 2009 22:27

Glad to hear that, but i am afraid there is a bit of confusion. the Barwa fast track housing at west saliya isnt by bilfinger.. these are light weight steel structures. but yes Bilfinger is doing the barwa city on the road to industrial area, but its still under construction. only housing project which barwa has commissioned is the Barwa Fast Track housing near church and the identical one being done after the industrial area. hope this clears the cloud and cheers.

and I am glad Qatar is doing something about providing low cost housing. My only complaint is that I wouldn't be happy living so far out. It seems to be in the middle of nowhere. Of course at the rate Doha is growing it will soon be in the middle of town!

I have a customer living over there and my maids go to clean, the houses are spacious and not at all bad for low cost housing. Air conditioner is missing in the kitchen but apart from that the hall is big and the bedrooms are ok bathroom a little to small for a family but they are in good condition just very far away

Hey Shyams,by the way, my husband is in construction and had the pleasure of visiting the site office. He was most impressed with how high the quality of the work is and the finishing of even the manholes are of very high standards. There is nothing wrong with precast housing! It's certainly better then some of the houses that I have seen being built here in Qatar.Bilfinger Berger are the constructors and they are German,so that says it all.We applaud Barwa and Bilfinger on the fantastic job they are doing for the government.

Good on Barwa,as there is a much needed demand for low cost housing here.At lest the people who can't afford much have something decent to live in.We know of someone who lives in a one room hole in the well and there are about 8 of his family members in this one room. They cook and sleep in this one room. For those of you who mock at at this, try to put yourself in the position of others.I say we should give everyone a decent and safe place to live in with their children.Don't knock it as it is clean and better then what some people have to live in.

at all mr. shyams when people living in Barwa starts complaining? at this time of crisis where everyone wanted to find some cheap house rents?

What would you expect of a 'low-cost' housing program anyway?

By prabhathjp• 5 Apr 2009 12:06

Barwa is constructing another housing complex calling BARWA CITY phase i is on progress all structure is pre cast concrete items......more than 5000 house units.....

atleast I havent heard of after sales customer service in housing....sorry i am neither :-)

I am just asking this to know as it was a project one of its kind attempted in the state of Qatar for middle class people. I only hope this forum could help to evaluate this attempt by a way we the public could know as well. its not for me but for us.

i think Shyams is part of after sales costumer service team, or part of the in-house developers or something like that...

what's the point of asking, unless you have plans or intention to live in Barwa?

By shyams• 4 Apr 2009 23:48
shyams

yes as tubelight mentioned its fast track coz its light weight steel frame structure which was built in 20 months.. the same by conventional construction would have take ages, look for eg at peal qatar....

nicaq25, I am not. Neither I applied nor anywhere near to as you may think....

By stealth• 4 Apr 2009 22:23
stealth

good ventilation, spacious, play area for kids. what more do you need?

By tubelight• 4 Apr 2009 22:13
tubelight

I read somewhere that it is fast-track because they use a steel frame method rather than traditional bricks and mortar.

comments from those living in Barwa Housing. Why? are they still accepting applicant tenants?

Jackmohan2007 - no, they're not afraid of being kick-out. Why would they be? It was not for free after all!

By shyams• 4 Apr 2009 17:41

this a housing complex with all amenities.. for a earth bottom price. imagine a three bedroom flat for 3500 when the same was costing not less than 9000 elsewhere... but again i am just eager to know from the people who are living there and i am not the one, so i cant comment much except to learn from the real people...

By anonymous• 4 Apr 2009 17:33

Things are very quite on their side.....on QL atleast.....I remember reading a couple of guys who got the appartment and wanting to swap places ....on QL......

They never complained about the amenities that they got....may be they are afraid of getting kicked out by Barwa.....!!!

QS i am curious to know the feedback for a common discussion, yes why not if can be fixed it can be.. no harm in letting known...
