It depends, on part, on where you live. I live in West Bay and have used a guy named Chandran (557-9408). He can be a bit of a grump and I wouldn't call him "reliable"; he was delivering the gas bottles to my house "tonight" for a full week before he finally turned up.

Your best bet, believe it or not, is to talk to the guards at the gate of your compound (or that of a friend's compound). They all use the gas for cooking and know who to call. Have them arrange it and leave the money with them. Once the gas guy turns up they'll exchange tanks for cash and will let you know.

I've heard of other people chasing down the gas trucks around town - look for the open-bed trucks packed full with the light blue gas tanks.

Oh - and if you have a BBQ grill from overseas then you'll need a new regulator. I've seen them at Carrefour, but I would recommend just purchasing the fool thing from the gas guy - you never know if/when Carrefour is going to have them. The gas guy can also give you a piece of hose that you may need to fit the regulator to the grill; just find a hose clamp to secure it.

In case the guard gate route doesn't work out, I've also seen an Al Naser Gas truck around town 486-0463; I know nothing about them other than having seen the truck.

Good luck,
