Hi to everyone!
Me & my wife are both working here in Qatar! My wife got 2 months pregnant before we got married in Philippines last January. She will deliver our baby on last week of July. Is anybody has idea if this is legal or illegal here in QATAR. Is there any problems if she will deliver here in QATAR.

Thanks for the answer, hope it may help.

many filipinas are getting pregnant or having kids without marriage....it's illegal but they're not strict about it.

I would suggest you deliver your baby in a private hospital. They are not that much strict and asking too many questions like Hamad Hospital.

Al-Ahli is a good hospital but quite expensive. But it's worth the cost because their service is also good aside from the facilties.

Also, if your wife is under your sponsorship, it could help.

Cheers...

Thanks for the answers. It really helps me a lot.At least now I can breath well, soon I will go to Philippine Embassy for the Authentication of our marriage contract, there maybe I can get more advise. I keep praying to Lord that at least give me a sign for what Im going to do, maybe this is the sign, I recieved a lot of answers, I hope these are all right. Again thank you very much.

Congrats!!!! Great news.

Funny enough, I had the same discussion with a lawyer about 2 months ago.

Either way, it is illegal to be pregnant and not in marriage or to have the baby and not be married. The illegal part apparently (on just being pregnant) is that it means you've had 'relations' outside of marriage which is prohibited.

Most places don't go that far... however, I've heard rampant stories about Hamad hospital not only requiring copies of marriage certificates (ok, fine) but questionning even further as well.

Fact is, you're married now so I wouldn't worry about it. But do avoid hospitals or doctors that this could be a questionable area.

Best to avoid the possibility anyway ..... look for a more ex-pat type of hospital (Al Ahli is a good one as are others) .... you won't be questionned at all except for 'when you were married' and thats it.

Good luck and don't worry.

Dude,

I have a friend who married here but they didn't knew that his wife was already 2 mos. preggy. She delivered their baby here and did not face any problems. The baby now has his own passport and a valid RP.

Hope it helps...

To best of my knowledge it is perfectly ok - as long as you are legally married and have related documentary evidence for the same regardless of pregnancy before or after marriage. Best of luck and congrats.

Pregnant before marriage

I think you are OK. They only seem to care that you are married before the baby is born. They don't check dates. I know of 2 couples who "got in trouble" and quickly married here. They did not face any problems.

I think nothing to worry about it since you are already married...provided that u have the supporting docs..

Or do you mean asking if Qatar Law is strict against pregnancy before marriage? The answer is YES.

As what I have read from the Qatar Law, when somebody who will give birth here she should be legally married and with proof that she is married to avoid any questions from the authority here. Thats what I know...or better asked some person who are more knowledgeable with this kind of situation...but in case u can provide any papers that you already got married then nothing to be worried.Congrats for your new baby soon...
