What is the best way to fly to Melbourne, Australia from Doha, Qatar?

I saw the news that Qatar Airways will start offerring direct flights but in the meantime, what are you guys doing?

I know Emirates offers a direct flights but thought maybe someone had a way to get their with a stop in Asia that cut the cost?

I am traveling to Sydney next month and I got Qatar Airways because they hav a stop over in Singapore for 5 hours. I worked a lot on the airlines. Yes Etihad is the cheapest but they have non-stop 18 hrs flight. It really depends upon you, I cannot fly for 18 hrs without stop so therefore I went for Qatar Airways. Emirates are also non-stop. Thai is also better and cheap.

Fly all the way on Thai Airways (They have partnership with Qatar Airways to fly to Qatar - Dubai leg)

The cheapest and easiest way I've found involves flying from Doha to Bangkok (either QA or Emirates) and then flying Thai Airways from Bangkok.

Hope that helps :)

Grrr, Emirates is only direct if you live in DXB! Take Qatar to Singapore, Bangkok, or KL and Qantas, MAS, or Sing onward.

Etihad is really cheap at the moment but it is a stopover in Abu Dhabi and then they refuel in Singapore. It is 46oo riyals from here to Brisbane not sure about Melbourne but they are alright better than Emirates. I have also flown Qatar Airways from here to Bangkok and then Thai airways from Bangkok. Either way it is a long flight!!
