Passport lost after visa recieved

Dear Sir,
One of my know person lost his passport after got the Qatar visa which contain the old passport number. He got new passport and done immigration also. Now he supposes to travel on 22/03/09 Qatar on srilankan air lines from Chennai.
In Chennai there is no problem he fly, but at Srilankan airport authorities send back to Chennai.
Would you please suggest what is the problem, how can we solve it?

Hi,

First thing if its transit flight Sri Lankan authority does not require old passport. I really do not know at what grounds they sent him back to Chennai. All what they require is a valid transit ticket as you not require visa for transit. If not buy a new ticket direct from Chennai to Doha & come back without going through all the hassles. (without wasting time in embassies)

I would suggest him to go to Lanka embassy in Qatar or Chennai were ever he is right now so that the embassy people can help him and direct him accordingly
