stealth - I think the problem is that by reproducing the entire text there was no incentive for QLers to visit the website I found it on. The author of the article would most probably not have been bothered, but the owners of the publication would have seen it as money lost.

Hey all. Thanks for noticing it was gone.

I got a PM from QL admin saying that they removed the thread after receiving a request from the lawyers of the publication asking for it to be taken down, as it infringed their copyright.

By 'cut and pasting' the article I was reproducing a piece of work without seeking permission from the copyright holder, which constitutes copyright infringement. Citing the source, providing a link, attributing the author and providing my own comments does not stop it from being an infringement.

QL admin said that if I re-write the post in a different way, by quoting certain sections and passing comment on them (as you might do in a blog entry) then they will consider reposting it with the original QLer comments reinstated. If I have time I will try to do this.

What I meant by "Don't kill the messenger" is that I don't want you to be upset with me, and I did not do anything bad to you.

i am not using messenger on my LINUX Box ... so do not worry usually i kill Kmess process (another chatting prog.) not the mess.

to kill it u must use following command:

# kill -9

I really didn't like that thread and thought it was an evident disgrace. I chose to disregard it. Obviously QL mods did too.

But I don't know why it was exactly removed. Maybe someone used foul language?
