I am a vegeterian, married, having 3 years one kid, from India.
1. For the position of software engineer, I got one offer of 17.5K QR pm + accomodation for family + Medical for family + Annual Airfare for the family to India. Is that a fair enough offer or is there some gap towards increment?
2. What would be the monthly average expenses for the below heads for 3 of us:
a) Accommodation (1 BHK) in a good area
b) Groceries (only veg. + once a week eating-out)
c) Bills (Electricity + Water + Internet + Average use of Phone)
d) Taxi fares
e) School Fee

Please do a favour to me by providing the above innformation. So that I can reach on some decide.

Thanks a lot in anticipation.

aa_arora ...Salary v/s Expenses:

Insist on House to be provided by the employer. Housing & Transport are the biggest problems in Qatar thats unimaginable anywhere else in the world.

Housing 6,500 to 10,000 pm (take an average of 8,000)

Transportation:

Own Car = QR 2,000 pm

Rent a car = QR2,500pm

Food is comparatively expensive than back home but still cheap. eg 1 Mutter Paneer & 2 Rotis = QR25. x RS13 = Rs325!

Monthly groceries around QR 2,000

School Fees (MES Indian School) QR 400 x3kids= 1,200

8,000+2,000+2,000+1,200 = QR13,000.Expenses

Taxi .... you will be lucky if you get in 3 taxis in a month!!!

Another major problem you will face is restaurants....you will have to end up sticking to Al Osra Restaurant & Star of India Restaurant. Mind you they still make their veg food in the same vessels that they have used to make non-veg food.

6 months winter 6 months summer with high humidity.

I'm a little confused. If your employer is providing housing why do you need accomodation (1 BHK)? Your salary, if you also are being given housing, sounds good. You will ned to think about school fees later on for your three-year old. They can be expensive here.
