Just an update on the location of the CID department which takes finger prints for Visa purposes. The office has shifted from the location near Aziziya Roundabout (the one after KFC) to a new location near the Jail. I went to the old location, not knowing that it had shifted and the guard at the gate told me that it had shifted. "It is near the Jail" he said helpfully. "Er, and where is the Jail?" I asked. "You don't know where the Jail is?" he responded incredulously - As if it was some tourist attraction that should be on every new arrival's 'must visit' itinerary. Anyway, I digress - back to the subject. After this short exchange, the guard was kind enough to give me a route map, kept handy for clueless new arrivals like me, who needed to visit the CID department and may also need, some time in the future, to visit the Jail.

So this is the route. Keep on Salwa road. (for newcomers, this is the main road that radiates out of Doha from the Ramada signal and takes you to the Saudi Border - another tourist attraction!). As I said, keep on Salwa Road and you will cross by turn, Midmac Roundabout (now a flyover) Decoration Roundabout, Wholesale Market Roundabout, Aziziya Roundabout and another small roundabout before coming to the new flyover which has replaced Industrial Area Roundabout. Go straight over the flyover, and keep to the right lane. About 300 mts after the flyover, and before the next interchange, there is a road to the right, perpendicular to the main road. Take this right turn and the road will take you to the new CID department building where you can have your finger prints taken. The best time to go is early in the morning - around 7.00 a.m. to avoid queues. I was there at 6.30 a.m. and the process took me less than 15 minutes.

Have a nice day and hope not to see you in Jail!

ON salwa road, turn left after KFC and then on your right, enter a service road as said by FORMATTED SOUL that there will be A BLUE & WHILE sign board of CID.

If you are on Salwa Road, second R/A after the decoration R/A take right the road goes straight to the Khalifa Stadium. When you go around 500 meters there is a blue and white sign directing you to the CID office. Make a right turn there.
