Living on Ras Laffan

By Neil_rc30

I am a British expat and have been offered a position on Ras Laffan, on an 8/2 rotation. I am sure this question has been asked many times, but to save me trawling through the forums could someone please tell me what are the living conditions on this camp/town like. What is the accommodation like, facilities, are there bars, shops etc. Is it bearable to live there 8 weeks at a time.
Any advice will be welcome to help make my decision

hi mr. niel,

i advice you not to stay in ras laffan camp. not good for your lungs you know, i mean if you will be working the whole day breathing the air with gas and when you sleep its still the same, pffff!!! you'd better think about it.

sometimes the smell is awful, especially when the flare gets bigger, believe me I've been there...

take care :-)

Hi,

First of all let me tell you Ras Laffan industrial city is located 80km’s from the city and it will take about 1 to 1.5 hrs to drive to doha (City) without traffic. Am sure you company will not accommodate U in company camps what they offer to their labor staff. (Horrible) Since you’re a britt!! You must be getting a decent pay with a house allowance. If company offers you a house from Al Khore community, much better.

Of’couse u doesn’t get bars, unless u gets the liquor license. You can adopt accordingly when U here & settled. But NNNNOOOOOOO happening in Qatar that’s for sure……

Good luck….

Hi. Ask for accommodation at Dhakira where the life will be totally different. Calm and quite and a small town is there a couple of miles away.

Bar ? hmmmm. guess

Good luck
